If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head. 1 Corinthians 11:6 Should women cover their hair?
I think he meant the purpose behind your post but yes the bible can most certainly be considered a joke.....hence the post I dare say.
It's the word of God isn't it? Or is just some of it? Who are you to say which part? Without Gods direct interaction with us and not in some metephorical way we are stuck with the bible and the interpretations of people just like you. There's no insult in that last part by the way it is simply to say people are people. Who is anyone to say what God means?
Most of the Bible is a chronicle of events written by human beings. There are many different interpretations and each Bible-based religion may or may not include the same beliefs and dogma based on what is written therein. This is not meant as an insult to fundamentalists or non-believers it is just the truth.
So why are people talking about God? Why does God have a name? Why are there rules to follow by this God? Why are there people who are trying to follow Gods instruction? Why is any of it more valid than say alien abduction?
The belief in a higher power has been intrinsic to to human beings since the dawn of sentience. We see cave drawings with beings that look like supernatural beings. Down through history humans have had many names for such beings and have bestowed divination on them as well. Because the rules lay out a moral code for humans to live by that stresses the continuance of the human species. This is true whether or not one believes in God or not. Because people believe that the word of God is sacred and that belief gives them not only guidance but comfort. It is not for me to say whether or not these instructions come directly from God. You have swerved into a very good point here. I suppose that a being from an advanced civilization somewhere 'out there' might be seen as an omnipotence and may also be capable of 'shape-shifting' and manifesting as a human being. Here is a question: If this alien being, was capable of doing all the things chronicled in the Bible, would that being NOT be God? What would be the difference?
Matthew 5: 17-18 17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Given the rise of nits that are increasing resistant to treatment - It would not be a bad idea for EVERYONE to either shave or cover up
Where is it written that one does not have to abide by every word written in the Bible? I suspect that the answer to your question is the same to mine. Unfortunately I think this open the the Bible to interpretation, where one can pick and choose what to and what not to follow.
Go for it. I will take my chances on this....http://alisina.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/women-burn-in-hell.jpg its what the muz say will happen to me.
assalamualaikum, dude interesting isn't it. in some cultures, catholic women still do cover their hair - and not just while in church. - - - Updated - - - I love that episode!
OK...Let's see...I wrote Where is it written that one must abide by every word written in the Bible? I do respect your interpretation but I just don't see that your Bible excerpt commands strict adherence to what is written therein. The Bible has been written and re-written and edited unknown times throughout written history. BEFORE that, the Bible is a collection of stories passed down from generation to generation. I am not here to declare the Bible either the word of GOD or nothing but a fantasy story. I think the OP is asking a a basically unanswerable question, anyone with any intelligence at all can understand both sides of the God controversy. The truth is....No one has any real answers. Why not believe in God? If He is real and your spirit exists after your death, wouldn't you want to be on His good side? (Maybe He is not all that 'warm and fuzzy' and compassionate?) Fact is we don't really know. He might torture your spirit for eternity. BTW you don't have to join a religion to believe in God but some folks find insight and guidance in religious observance. If you are an Atheist and there is no God, no spirit, no nothing...When you die it's just non-existence. POOF! That's it. Ain't nothin' gonna happen anyway. Here's a thought, what if what you truly believe is your ultimate destiny?
Wa'alykum Asalaam. And yet Muslim women who choose to wear Hijab are labeled as oppressed and victims. Funny world we live in.
