Given the relative rarity of these kinds of attacks in comparison to the day-in, day-out street crime epidemic plaguing major urban areas, I'd say just 1 of these attacks changes the percentages quite a bit more than your hyperbole suggests. If he gained access to the base with his own valid ID (he was supposedly a contractor there) in a car, he could have easily smuggled a shotgun onto the base, as cars are rarely searched unless the person driving it looks suspicious, or there is a credible threat against that base or nation as a whole.

 

The location and the timing are curious, to say the least.

 

This didn't happen in a " gun-free" zone by chance?
