there you go.... it's one of those deals where no one knows for sure. So right or wrong is subjective until there is a way to prove it.

is it environmental, or genetics.... or both.

it's like arguing if there is a God with an atheist. We'll all know one day, until then, we just follow our faith

but the idea that any one can say gay is a choice is met with such abject hatred and namecalling is pretty ironic considering they hypocracy of "accept my ideals, but I don't have to accept yours"

that is basically the theme of the majority of my posts within this subsection. I toss the hypocrisy back into their face.

    me too.

Stagnant, JohnnyC.... and the likes (there are more) just can't see the hypocracy. if you call it out, you are labeled a homophobe and ignorant. Johnny's auto response is to any resistence to the gay collective is just that. and then announce how you are now ignored (for added dramatic effect)

Either way....within the subsection, we are obviously the minorities and the attempts to badger us into submission will never get to me. Stagnant's e-rage is funny though as every other word is censored.... lol

I'm still waiting for my response:

OK, since you know everything, and I don't know how many times I have to ask this before you get it:

    1. I was raised by heterosexual parents
    2. I did not know any homosexuals as a kid
    3. I was not sexually abused as a kid
    4. I played sports
    5. Both of my brothers are heterosexual

So, how did I "learn" to be homosexual? Obviously you know, so spit it out.

And it's not going to change, my equipment does not work with females. I could be celibate, but I'm not going to do that to please you.

so it sounds like if all your family is straight and you are not... that it can't be genetic. Therefore, it has to be environmental. Good point.

the other thing that we cannot do is to discuss other forum members. It will get us a warning or a temp ban. It is acceptable for liberals to discuss other forum members on this forum but not acceptable for conservatives to do it.

How can it be environmental if both my brothers are heterosexual? We all grew up in the same environment. Here's another clue- I have green eyes and both my brothers have blue. Neither of my parents have green eyes either.

BTW, you did not answer the question- How did I "learn" to be homosexual?

the same way a preacher can raise 3 sons, 2 become preachers and the other ends up in prison.... Free will is a (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) sometimes and just because you are brothers, does not mean your environment is the same....

but it CLEARLY can not be genetic since your brothers did not turn out gay and you did.

Hmm...why do I have green eyes and no one else in my family does?

Keep digging, Javis, this is getting quite humorous.

One more time- How did I "learn" to be gay? Did I also "learn" to have green eyes- because no one else in my family has them, so it can't be genetic according to you.

    yeah right... noone has it.

you made the assertion that noone else in your family is gay. hence, it isn't hereditary....

so unless you suggesting gay is like a birth defect (because you can have a downs syndrome kid and not have a family history of that), then you have simply painted yourself into a corner that it can't be genetic....

No one else in my family has green eyes. Both my brothers have blue, my mom has blue and my dad brown. But yet I have green eyes. How did I "learn" to have green eyes? Are you suggesting that my having green eyes is a birth defect?

I am getting a huge kick out of this, so do please keep going. I've painted my myself into no corner at all, but you definitely have.

Prometheus is on your side, you know... And it's utterly bizarre that you'd say this after I've rammed source after source up this thread... And I think I'm the only one thus far. :/

I'm sorry, care to define "hate group"? Because, I feel the need to reiterate - if you don't define the FRC as a hate group, then you can define virtually nothing as a hate group. They lie and publish/promote blatantly fraudulent research with the aim of painting homosexuals as negatively as possible, and their statements basically ooze hatred from every pore. What divides them from the modern Klu Klux Klan?

Hey, guys, I know you're busy tossing each other off in our faces, but I think this post is pretty relevant...

...No response? Really? Not even a cursory "that's nice, now let me get back to asserting things that are falsifiable with no evidence"?

Did you NOT read the 'entire' SPLC link YOU provided? Did you not 'read' their 'hate crime list'? The 59 year old woman who you 'claim' I am babbling about is featured all over the site YOU TOUT as evidence.

Nice try at a personal attack against me, but it's still a EPIC FAIL on your part.

However, since you either 'could not', or 'would not' bother to navigate the 'entire' website ...here are the links that are also listed on the site YOU PROVIDED.

    http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-files/profiles

"BTW the information was not 'flawed'"

Actually it was. And as you only read the parts you 'liked'; it comes as no surprise that you didn't bother to see if it was 'actually' true.

FYI If you 'had' bothered to read the 'schlock' you provided; you would have known that.

Unfortunately for YOU, I 'did' read all of the 'crap' you 'touted' as evidence. And again, it's a EPIC FAIL on your part.

    Thanks for 'playing'.

First of all, you're not paying attention, as I did not link you to anything. Stagnant did. So don't lie and say I linked yo to something I did not.

Second, you have not even addressed one point or quote made, and all of the info is sourced to places other than SPLC.

Third, and this is the last time I ask you- who is this 59 year old grandma, and what "lie" is told about her?

Start answering the questions and debating.

Just read those links. What are you saying is not true? Here's another source for your wonderful 59 year old grandmother. BTW- Maybe you're her, or you know her. Let us know.

Do you know what an ad hominem attack is? Are you trying to deny that what the SPLC is saying about the Family Research Council, from the quotes to the cited scientific reports, is lies? Because if you want, I can find other sources for various claims. It seems like you're trying to debunk well-sourced claims from a website by saying "well, they've been wrong before" rather than actually addressing the claims. Do you have a name for this 59-year-old, or do you expect us to read the whole SPLC sitemap before actually saying anything? The more you post, the less I get the impression that you have any interest whatsoever in rational discussion. The claim that both of my other links were just "parroting the SPLC" is a complete lie, by the way; even the Bloomberg link only uses the SPLC as a jumping-off point, rather than the entire argument.

Do you have any intention of holding a rational discussion, or are you just here to fling (*)(*)(*)(*)? If the former, then please stop dodging and tell us what, in your mind, constitutes a hate group. If the latter... Just go troll elsewhere.

You do realize that parents can sign a kid up for therapy at any point. I got dragged to all kinds of therapy for being a depressive type kid and not being good at school. I couldn't say no, not to parents.

Also this isn't a matter of mere hurt feelings -- you can mess a person up for life if you tell them all day, every day that he's broken and there's something wrong with him. It didn't make an A student out of me, it just made me feel stupider. And I don't think it would change a gay kid either.

Wow more personal attacks because I proved that you did NOT fully navigate the link YOU provided. And I also proved that the grandmother who was libeled and slandered by the SPLC actually existed.

Second, I read all the crap you provided. And you FALSELY accuse ME of not 'addressing' your bull crap links?

Third ........read the links I 'provided' showing the picture and the name of the Grandma as listed.

Or is it that you were simply too "lazy' to actually read the links I got from the actual 'source' link that you provided??

BTW Here are just a 'few' of those links.

    http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-files/profiles

    http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/publications/terror-from-the-right

    http://www.splcenter.org/sites/defa...lication/terror_from_the_right_2012_web_0.pdf

Really, if you 'bothered' to read the links I got from your 'source link' ...you would have seen her pic, and her name.

But since you obviously 'did not' bother to 'read' those links ...that's hardly 'my fault'.

"Start answering the questions and debating"

Describing yourself as you keep doing the personal attacks in order to try to make yourself 'look' good.. So much for your 'input'.

Wow calling 'her' a 'repulsive human being' when she was lied about by the SPLC and stuck on a hate list where she did not belong.

But then liberals do like to LIE, and FALSELY accuse people of being RACIST when they're not.

    So much for 'your' input.

    "What a repulsive human being."

    Yes 'YOU' are!

The SPLC is known for falsley accusing groups 'such as the FRC" (which in spite of your emotional drivel has NOT been proven to be a hate group) of being a 'hate group'.

But then as I told another poster ...Liberals do love to push lies, and play that race card.

    FYI for someone to 'brag'

"I've said in the past that Hitler was right, and I stand by those comments."

You are in no position to be attacking me, because I dare to stand up against LIARS (who love to put innocents on hate group lists) such as the SPLC.

    So much for 'that'.

That would make more sense than it being environmental, given that homosexuals are raised in all sorts of environments. I also agree that it's not purely genetic, although I think many people often misunderstand what it means to be genetic. The cells in your eyes have the same genetic material as the cells in your liver, hypothalamus and latissimus dorsi, yet each of those cells have are highly differentiated, performing specialized functions. The environmental, biological process, genetics and random chance all influence each other, causing changes in genetic expression. An attribute can be genetic, environmental and biological in origin all at the same time. One of the more prominent theories is that homosexuality can be caused by hormones in the womb - the hormones and the degree to which the hormone receptors respond to the hormones depend on genetic factors and timing. Genetics is not the simple study of having a gene that makes your eyes green vs not having the gene, therefore they are blue. Genetics is not the sole determinant of mutually exclusive possibilities.

All of which means, of course, that if we can figure out exactly the cause and the timing, it should be technically possible to prevent someone from becoming homosexual. Technically true, of course. The only question is if it's worth the time and effort, or if time might be better spent curing things like cancer and the common cold.

Okay, tell you what. Why don't you tell us all what you think makes a hate group. What, in your eyes, qualifies a group to be labeled a "hate group"?

I categorize a hate group as any group which overtly or covertly has a clear agenda towards slandering a minority group on the basis of immutable characteristics and raising irrational public ire against them with false and/or biased information. Under this label, the FRC fits wonderfully - essentially their entire schtick is saying hateful things about homosexuals and pushing bad research in an attempt to make them look bad. But hey, maybe you define "hate group" differently. How would you like to define the term?

Oh look, someone who didn't read my (*)(*)(*)(*)ing signature before commenting on it.

    Remember kids...
" I've said in the past that Hitler was right, and I stand by those comments."
    ...Context is everything.

And if you click on the "follow to post" link (the little blue arrow next to my name), you can read the context of the post - which is the entire point of the signature. The context in which it was posting was not glorifying Hitler's social policies. It was directed solely at his economic policies, which brought Germany out of one of the largest, most pervasive slumps in history very quickly and was, at least in practice, a well-made execution of Keynesian economics. I mean, my mother and grandmother are Jewish; you expect me to hate Jews? The whole point of this is that you can't just take words out of context and build an argument with them. You have to look at the whole picture. And the whole picture of the Family Research Council, especially when looking at what their leaders and mouthpieces say, is incredibly unflattering.
