I figure it would be immensely entertaining watching the Land of the Left try to figure out how to either get their hands on the money from the free States or teach their own folk how to work and succeed. I figure they will print money into oblivion, then panic

 

To be honest, I think I prefer living in the combined land, where an opposing tension exists that can maybe help keep each side honest and in check. I'm not sure I really want any particular ideology holding too much sway for very long.

Our very consciousness works by the trillions of continuous, real time summations of opposing tug-of-war influences between agonists and antagonists, exciters and inhibitors, positive ion accumulations and negative ion accumulations, concentration gradients and electric field gradients, opposing pumps and channels, etc. Naive as it may actually be, I see these two opposing political forces as similarly having an overall, long term beneficial effect, whose result can be greater than the sum of either contributor - at least more so than if either side reigned supreme for a very long period. I still see these two warring factions more as benefit than a curse, though I may have to revise that opinion a bit since we've been moving well past the dynamics of merely opposing tensions and are now setting our sights on that cursed land of bitter hatred, where all is bleak and barren and almost nothing of any real benefit can occur.

If secessionists are certainly in our midst... it's interesting to to me to consider what they might really end up being/doing.

I'll tell you what it'll be like.

First, we'd be free from the mooching liberals. That in and of itself would make secession great.

Second, most of the military would come with us. Liberals hate the military. Always have, always will. So we'll take the military, you can keep the druggies, hippies, crackheads, illegals, flames, and labor unions.

Third, most of those evil corporations would come to our nation since we'll offer lower taxes and a friendlier business environment. The few in your country that actually are willing to work, I guess you'll have to hope government gives you a job. Where they'll get the money for that, who knows. We'll drill for oil and be energy independent. you'll be rubbing sticks together for fire.

Fourth, we'll have to soon erect a Great Wall, in order to keep you losers out. Since your entire country will be run and inhabited by liberals, it will look like Detroit in no time. You'll be bankrupt, and will start tunneling your way into our country. Similar to how the Mexicans do now. Only our border control won't be a joke like it is now.

And finally, since we'll have the military, you'll probably be invaded and conquered by Paraguay or Venezuela in no time.

While some of the article seemed sensationalized, it does make a bit of sense. I'm not sure I agree with the conclusions drawn, but the symptoms pointed out seem to be in line. Especially the rich getting away with pretty much anything these days. *sigh*
