Yes, we are in a global economy, in part thanks to the free trade agreements. In part thanks to technology. In part thanks to companies that use sweat shop type labor overseas. Part of regulation you probably don't like. Workers rights type of regulations.
But companies for the most part haven't shifted over seas, just the labor.

though i don't particularly like white picket fences, i see no reason why people shouldn't have them. what i do object to is the creation of a false middle-class, people in relatively unskilled professions that feel it is their right to have what their positions really don't warrant. it is one thing to gain these things by moving up the ladder or even working at several menial professions at the same time. it is quite another thing to believe that those menial professions merit a lifestyle that most others have had to advance for. this overcompensation of menial professions has led to a society of inflated prices and an underachieving, overpaid workforce that simply can't compete in the global economy that our technology has brought us.

 

I love to hear people convey their belief that something is not normal or natural should not be recognized while using a computer.
