Why should Hobby Lobby's employees have to pay for Hobby Lobby's religious values?

One thing that I really don't like about this whole hobby lobby thing is people saying "I shouldn't have to pay extra for your birth control"
That is absolutely the wrong way to look at it. By covering birth control you are keeping costs down by preventing pregnancies. Each pregnancy brought to term costs tens of thousands of dollars (not to mention healthcare costs from age 0 to 26 for each dependent) Each abortion costs hundreds. Each birth control perscription? 30 a month.
You don't want to pay for birth control. Good for you. I don't want to pay for your religious values.

So don't pay for them. Don't buy from Hobby Lobby. It's that simple. I won't buy anything from them either, but it's their company and the owners should have the right to run it as they see fit even if we don't agree with what they are doing.

You should not have the right to use your power to force your religious beliefs on others. Our constitution has to protect the rights of the minority from the abuses of the majority. This is not a ruling that will end with Hobby Lobby.

Yep, BS beginning so the entire thread is invalid at this point.

They didn't say no to BC they said no to the abortion pill.

Your ignorance and sheep like position on this topic is toxic, so please stop.

No one is being forced. The people who work there do so voluntarily, as do the people who shop there.

One: Plan B is not the abortion pill. It is not intended to work after conception. Two: The ruling goes beyond Hobby Lobby's demands. All birth control is on the cutting block for catholic companies. And in fact the ruling has sparked several lawsuits looking to cut all birth control.

They don't have to. Nobody is making them work at Hobby Lobby. They made that decision for themselves. I think the real question is, why should the Hobby Lobby owners have to pay for their employee's contraception if they don't want to?

God said go fourth and multiply. Hobby don't care about cost, if they did they wouldn't pay full time workers $14 bucks an hour

I find it truly amazing how much this SCOTUS decision has upset the left in America. Last time I checked, women are still free to get as much contraception as they want, including abortions, and to have as much meaningless sex as they want with as many men or women as they desire. Nobody is getting in between women and their reproductive/sexual freedoms AT ALL by defending the right of business owners to freely negotiate an employment contract. This is much ado about nothing.

How do structural forms of "friction" in markets help reduce social costs?

Yes. So all policy revolving around it should be with the goal of providing coverage that prevents medical costs from going up. Not allows people to à la carte and cut whatever coverage they want out for their religious views and cost of rest of us money. I don't have your religious views. I shouldn't have to pay for it.

How are doing that? Why should the owners of hobby lobby pay for someone else's values? Does the concept of freedom not apply to them?

That's what insurance is, an a la carte service. Higher premiums = better individual coverage. Lower premiums = basic coverage. Universal Healthcare = Absolute essentials to survivals not freebies for everyone.

I took multiple economic classes in college and your argument honestly doesn't make sense.

Bill, every one of these Hobby Lobby employees has the right to choose whether or not they wish to continue working for the company! If they demand to be provided birth control pills or whatever as part of their company-provided insurance or compensation then they can always take their highly self-esteemed, irreplaceably worthy selves down the road and get a job with some other company that will give it to them. Then everybody's happy, and nobody's "rights" have been trampled on. It's called FREEDOM, Bill. I know you guys on the Left aren't very comfortable with the concept, but try to adapt....

No one is denying the owners merely abstain and just say "no" to using those products.

I'm not religious and I still don't want to pay for it. Why should the rest of us be forced to pay for someone else's personal activities?

"Racist" or "You hate women" is where this is going to head.

Libs demand hand outs, that's it. Any other questions?

    Are most Americans idiots?

Why do they (some) keep thinking the Hobby L case was about birth control when it is about ABORTION?

a chemical or device that causes death to the small human is NOT contraception!

Is that so hard to understand?

    the prefix Contra means AGAINST

    Conception (self explanatory)

this is a good example of how people don't even get their facts and info correct b4 spoutating away incessantly, acting like they know what's going on when they clearly do not

The stupidity is indeed toxic. But when Sunday morning news shows lead with how "Hobby Lobby bans birth control", this is what you get. Low information voters and exceptionally dishonest network anchors. No wonder America has sunk so low. 0bama and democrats depend on it.

They are not forcing anyone to work there. If you don't like their policy, work elsewhere.

Yhe irony in this post considering the OP wants to force his morality onto them.

Not providing BC is NOT imposing religious beliefs on others.

This is just more crap hyperbole from the intolerant and bigoted right.

And more whining that the rich won't pay for their immoral behavior.

it is the lawless liberals who want to force their fake religion (a religion w/o moral standards) on the rest of this nation. But I realize it is a tactic of the lying Left to accuse Rs and others of what they themselves are guilty of

But guess what? It doesn't work with the more intelligent of us

We see thro your stupid non-arguments every time
