Why should Hobby Lobby's employees have to pay for Hobby Lobby's religious values?

I see. So you're opposed to the 1st Amendment. That's unfortunate. You should lobby for its repeal. Until then, you'll just have to find a way to carry on.

What is the "imposition" you see? Only paying for 16 of 20 birth control options? I am an atheist and I am tired of liberals imposing their faith on all of us.

For liberals, freedom requires abortion pills to be free.

Only if the government decides to give you options. The Public Options debated in 09 was one size fits all, like Obamacare.

The cost of your insurance is part of your compensation. Instead of paying it all to you in cash, they are taking part of it and paying for insurance in your name. It doesn't make sense to say "they just have to do with their paycheck not with the insurance provided." The employees are already paying for the insurance provided with a smaller paycheck. It's comparable to the company's 401K program. Employees can invest matching funds from Hobby Lobby in funds that include drug companies that make the same birth control pills to which Hobby Lobby objects. But that's not equivalent to Hobby Lobby investing in those companies because, ultimately, it's the employees' money that's invested not Hobby Lobby's.

You didnt even come remotely close to answering my question. I am going to repost once again.....

According to you, since it is part of their compensation, therefore the employer isnt paying for it, rather it is the employee paying for the insurance. Since wages are also part of compensation, does that mean that the employer isnt paying the employees wages, rather it is the employee paying themself?

I think the larger overall point that you seem to be missing, is that an employer is paying ALL forms of compensation.

It’s not realistic to expect the SCOTUS to ONLY make judgments that you agree with.

It has to be said over and over… NO ONE IS FORCED TO TAKE ON THEIR EMPLOYER’S PLANS. They can go out on their own OR sign up on the exchanges OR have no insurance and pay the penalty. Anyone that did not like Hobby Lobby’s plan had plenty of alternatives.

AGAIN… there is no coercion. No one was forced to be on Hobby Lobby’s plan. They won the suit. Employees can either get another plan outside of Hobby Lobby or they can quit and get a job somewhere else that fits their needs. OR – PAY FOR THEIR OWN CONTRACEPTION. What you’re demanding is the government have the leverage for FORCE businesses to provide something that they may not want to provide based on their religious beliefs. THAT is coercion!

Yes, the government stepped on the rights of Hobby Lobby and other like-businesses.

The only way this will happen is if congress rewrites that part of the law.

I have absolutely no desire to shut anyone up; never said such a thing. And this decision doesn’t do this at all. This decision does not close off all the option for BC for any woman. I expect a lot of cases to be heard regarding Obamacare. It’s an oppressive, evil law.

It was Hobby Lobby subjected by the government, forced to provide health insurance that went against their faith. You keep dismissing that the employee can get their insurance anywhere they want if they feel Hobby Lobby’s isn’t sufficient.

Religion doesn’t dictate anything; the constitution does. Religious rights are protected. If you don’t like that, amend the constitution.

How is anyone's religious beliefs being forced on anyone? Are the employees required to go to Church every Sunday or they get fired? That's religious beliefs being forced on someone. Please explain.

Liberals sensitivities have been bruised. The idea that someone has religious principles and actually works for a living and makes money is totally antithetical to their world view. The idea that government authority has been thwarted by the law absolutely enrages them.

Attention. Hobby Lobby's employees aren't paying for HL's religious
values. They are only paying for abortifacients.

What part of that do Collectivists not understand?

That's not what I called for or suggested; YOU generated that notion yourself.

But let's see how well a ruling goes over, if a Muslim wins and a bit of "Sharia" is pushed via the law.

I can't wait for that to happen, and it likely will.

What do you mean by a "bit of Sharia" being pushed by law? You mean like a Muslim owned business not being forced to purchase or sell pork or some other product that is forbidden to them? They absolutely shouldn't be forced to do that as it is against their religious views. Freedom of religion, it belongs to everyone.

Exactly! For gods sakes just because you own a company doesn't mean you have to make your employees think the same about religion as you!

I hope you realize the employees who work there can't find any other job. No one says " When I get big I want to work at Hobby Lobby ". And they may not want to pay for the contraception pills but the only reason the employees need the health care is THEY CAN'T AFFORD IT. And Hobby Lobby has plenty of money. The only reason they don't want to cover it is because they don't believe in contraception pills. Yet they invest in them? If a person needs contraception give them contraception!

That's easy. If they did vote the Union in, just trade dues check off for the elimination of the same 4 contraceptive methods in the insurance. The union would jump on that in a New York second.

That's comparing apples to oranges. Viagra is a medication for erectile dysfunction and contraceptives prevent contraception. Two vastly different medical conditions.

Most employer sponsored medical plans don't cover dental neither does Covered California Obama Care plans, is that discriminatory forcing people to pay for their own dentistry?

Constitutionally guaranteed "right to religious freedom". Notice how the separation between "Church" and "State" goes right out the window when it comes to stepping on folks Constitutionally guaranteed "right to religious freedom".

If anyone should be paying for the woman's contraceptive method, is the guy having sex with her.

You forget, it's not what the union wants, but what the employees want that determines what goes into the contract. Instead of trading one thing for another, get both dues check off and 4 contraceptive methods.

The Hobby Lobby ruling, was a bit of "Christianity" being pushed (onto employees) by law (that's really the effect). If a Muslim or other is ruled 'for' in a subsequent case, what will people say about that (especially on the Right)?

What you said is essentially BS. It's obvious. To be fair, we can say that men don't NEED erections (as some said that women don't "need" birth control). I think neither is true, but I've heard the latter said about women.
