I don't care what the source of the report is, this clearly lays out the power grab I've been trying to warn about for months now.

The internet is a rampart of Free Speech. A place to exchange ideas and information free of government interference. Political tyrants cannot accept this! They must throttle it so nobody can see their efforts to control us.

I can see right now all the claims that this is nothing more than trying to make things “FAIRER” for everyone. Live your pipe dreams until you too find yourself chained to the Party Line.

It's a shame that something as important as net-neutrality is being raped and corrupted by the same partisan bull(*)(*)(*)(*) as everything else. I guess that's just what money does.

The issue is very simple. Since the internet began, it has always operated as an open and free exchange of information - by design. Only recently, greedy corporations such as Verizon and Comcast (only examples, not limited to them) have begun to shift things in their favor. They've found that profits can be increased by forcing facets of the internet to no longer be open, or "neutral". So, the FCC is now trying to put them in their place in order keep things neutral.

So to recap and make it as simple as possible...

    1. The internet has always been neutral
    2. As always, corporations (*)(*)(*)(*) it up for more money
    3. The FCC is trying to prevent #2 to preserve #1

In other words, the big bad 'gubmint isn't trying to control the internet (at least not yet, with this), but trying to keep things as they always have been. Anyone who tells you differently (like republicans/conservatives, or the corporations themselves, for example), is flat-out lying to you. This includes the article you linked. Virtually everything in it is just wrong - very wrong, like, the complete opposite of the truth.

And just as a disclaimer (because I know someone will inevitably go there), I don't identify myself as a Democrat, and I am 100% for internet freedom and privacy. I would prefer that such a ruling by the FCC were not necessary, but the internet is too important to let asshat companys screw it up for everyone.
