Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner: Transgender or Transvestite?

To me, a transgender person is someone who actually wishes to change their biological gender.

Bruce/Caitlyn does not wish to become a woman. He/She has made it clear that he/she plans to stay a man biologically and have hetrosexual relationships with women. So, can it really be considered being transgender?

In my honest opinion, because he/she wants to stay a man physically, and just wants to dress and look like a woman, and had admitted to having no interest in any sex change treatments, he/she is just a very open transvestite an not truly transgender.

 

I just refer to it as a tranny and that covers either base, though I am sure they will invent a new phrase for it before too long.

A transgender person is someone whose gender identity does not comport with the sex they were assigned at birth. That last phrasing is important to understanding the depth of this issue, as our perception of biological sex as a clear binary, while true of most people, is not true of all. There are people who fall under the catchall of intersex conditions who may also, as per the definition above, be transgender.

Moreover, the decision of whether or not to pursue surgical intervention is a deeply personal one best left between the patient and doctors. The fact that someone speaks publicly about that decision isn't an invitation for people to debate whether or not anyone's identifying as transgender is valid, or who should qualify or not. That's a determination made by professionals qualified to assess the individual.

Doctors don't automatically recommend sex reassignment surgery for every patient who identifies as transgender. It's a serious surgery, not comparable to an outpatient procedure, for example. It also may not be necessary for every person who identifies as transgender; it's really more of a last resort for treating a problem that can't be resolved through other means.

It's also a matter of $$$. The surgery often hasn't been covered by insurance, and not everyone can afford it.

So, no - whether or not someone is transgender isn't a matter of whether or not they wish to "change their biological gender".

Hormones do more change than surgery ever could.

List of effects on male to female:

Shrinking of veins
loss of body hair
loss of muscle mass and bone density
more prone to anxiety
cry more
loss of aggression and ambition
brain shrinks ( lol! seriously. It does but you don't see that sourced much now days haha. ) skull does not.
Stopping of male baldness
loss of sex drive ( interesting that, for those of you that think they are likely to be sexual predators)
Redistribution of fat. Hormones tell the body where to store fat.
If under 25, widening of hip bones. A man's hip bones fuse in the middle at about 25. It's pretty much usless starting HRT beyond this point.
Reduction of skin thickness.
Change in length of tendons. Some get longer, others shorter.
It goes on. No one really knows how much it affects the brain but I'd say considerably. Hormones are more powerful than scapels.

In that case transvestism is recognized as a mental disorder by the APA.

He has $100 million. This was just the next Kardasian fake media stunt. He did a little tranny act, made a bunch of more money, and then laughed in everyone's face claiming he doesn't want to look like a woman, sound like a woman, won't do SRS surgery and is screwing a woman with his penis.

It showed how gullible people are to whatever the media tells them. He is not transgendered and certainly not a transsexual.

Treatment is not a "one size fits all" for people who are transgender. Some people have surgery, some take hormones, some do both, some do neither one.

Who appointed anyone here to be the judge and jury of who qualifies as transgender in the first place? It's not up to you. It's a diagnosis made by doctors, not some checklist that people have to complete in order to obtain public approval of their transgender status.

Really ridiculous the way this is being discussed here. Is Jenner faking it? I have no idea - and neither do any of you. Not saying she's above criticism; I just think targeting the legitimacy of her transgender status is beyond low, and says more about the people debating it than about Jenner herself.

Women's prison would be horrible.

 

Transgender is solely within the individuals mind. Many transgenders do seek to physically change their gender and appearance to match what gender they think they are, but it is not required. I think I would learn to live with these "feelings" that I am a woman trapped in a mans body, before I would decide to go through with surgery.

 

Just a bit less dangerous to your health than a men's prison.

 

Or with the only dick in the cell block, he could be very popular.
