Yes, he can say whatever he likes but We the People have a right to a secular goverment so if what he is saying will impede his ability to perform his job then that needs to be addressed. Kim Davis was not doing her job because of her beliefs which is a precedent. People who hold extreme antigay positions need to be able to state unequivocally in a court of law that they will not allow their own personal beliefs to interfere with their jobs. This pastor is apparently unwilling to do so hence the problem. Please note that he swore an oath to uphold the constitution so if he is not willing to abide by the Law of the Land then he is violating that oath of office too.
Did the pastor do the job improperly? No. The article says he was fired because of comments he made outside the job. Do you think Tim Kaine is qualified to be VP? He claims to be pro-life and Catholic personally but politically is pro-choice. By your logic, he should be thrown off the ticket and you should be voting against him. Are you opposing him, or are you selective ion your "outrage"?
The evidence is there. Do you think homosexuality is related to AIDS? Does homosexuality relates to AIDS?
We don't need an example because he was removed from consideration before the lawsuits started pouring in.
Actually your example just proves my position. Kaine has stated that he will uphold the secular Law of the Land over his own personal religious beliefs. If the pastor does the same he can have his job back. What is stopping him from doing as Kaine has done? - - - Updated - - - Explain your interpretation of the term "relate". Everyone, gay or straight, came become infected with AIDS so your questions make no sense whatsoever. You will need to clarify what you are trying to say.
Apparently he has done just as Kaine does. The pastor was not fired for any action he took on the job, he seems to have been doing his job properly but was fired for activity in his personal life.
In his instance it is more of a 5th Amendment argument. - - - Updated - - - Please provide credible substantiation for that allegation.
Your allegation that he was fired is not supported by the link in the OP. That link says that his offer of employment was rescinded. The link in the OP is all over the place as far as the dates are concerned so it is far from a reliable source for anything IMO.
Because the situations are different. She as vocal about why she did what she did. Here the pastor doesn't want to give up his sermons.
Wrong. I'll copy it for you: "Dr. Eric Walsh had been appointed to President Obamas Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/Aids and was hired by the Georgia state agency in May 2014. He was supposed to start working in June 2016. But the DPH found out that LGBT activists had protested Walsh when he was selected as the commencement speaker at Pasadena City College. The agency launched an investigation into his preaching and he was asked to hand over copies of his sermons. DPH employees watched the sermons, and later the agency rescinded the offer of employment after Walsh had been employed for only a week. Walsh then filed a charge of discrimination with the U.S. Equal Opportunity Commission in September 2014, arguing that he was fired for his sermon content." He was hired, worked for 1 week, then was fired because the Dept of Public Health heard Walsh had on his own time spoken politically incorrect views. He was not fired because he was unqualified to do the job or because he was doing the job improperly. He was fired because of his religious view, a view which he kept out of his job but which the gays hated (the gays protested and are the root of the censorship and discrimination of Walsh).
He initiated a law suit and the sermons are part of the legal discovery process. If he doesn't want to hand them over he needs to drop his lawsuit and go back to preaching. - - - Updated - - - Assumes facts not in evidence.
Wrong. Its what is provided on the articles. You just don't like the fact that your past arguments regarding accommodation laws (that certain activities such as religion are OK but should be kept out of the workplace) now mean you have to support the Christian.
That means nothing. By your logic the Jews were guilty just because the Nazi government said so. Give me a specific example. Or are you bluffing. - - - Updated - - - "Relate" as in they're more prone than others to get it. After all they do make 82% of those who got AIDS. - - - Updated - - - Did he pushed his beliefs on the job?
