They went with the wrong horse. Hillary couldn't beat a Junior Senator from Illinois in 2008, what made them believe they could win in 2016. Especially after the lackluster recovery ushered through by the Democrats for the last 8 years. They had 8 years to fix the economy and couldn't even muster a 2% mean GDP growth rate for all 8 years. The Democrat party made fools of themselves by constantly telling folks how good the recovery was going. We the people could see that it wasn't. Add to that a $Trillion$ dollar stimulus that kept Government workers unemployment under 6% while the private sectors soared over 10+%. Then the progressive population wonders why Hillary lost? The Democrat Party needs the same shake up the Republican Party got in the primaries. Have the learned from their 2016 loss? Hardly, they voted Nancy Pelosi back into power as House minority leader. The same people that steered the raft over the falls are now poised to do it again in the 2018 mid-term. As long as the same knuckleheads are in control of the party, don't expect any big changes in Congress 2 years from now. The donors are in control. They need to withhold their donations to the Party till they get their act together and flush the Democrat old guard down with the Tidy Bowl Man.

have not given it a second though, Hillary got more votes then Trump, she did good, just wasn't in the cards, she lost in some crucial states, but the majority of voters wanted her to be President

You hold onto that. Its like holding onto a baseball game where you lost 3-5 but your team had more hits. It means nothing.

Well, I then suggest that the democrats keep their status quo and keep up with what gave us sanders and trump. The democrats will just keep winning elections if they do that. Clinton's popular votes proved the country is satisfied with the direction they took America. So I would not change a single thing. If I were a GOPher, I would be begging you not to change a single thing. And it looks like even without the begging, they do not plan on change. For they got the popular vote. But if trump gets his way, the dems may lose voters when they go back to mexico.

The democrat strategy of flooding several large coastal states (California and New York, notably) with support while ignoring and denigrating the entire middle of the nation guarantees further losses in the Electoral College.

I guess the left could always change the Constitution and dissolve the Electoral College but, oh, wait... once more they have alienated and ignored most of the nation and their solid support lies in a minority of states. The Constitution seems safe as it is.

Shhh...don't tell them this. Let them remain in denial. It will help to keep the GOP in power. In their minds, they did not lose. They won. If trump can make americans feel that their lives are better off, we may see the GOP pull off what the FDR dems pulled off for decades, relegating the dems to the minority party in congress.

These idiots believed their own press. (Literally)

The Clinton Foundation is now accepting donations! lol

All those scumbags that were in on the "pay for play" scheme the Clintons put together deserve to be parted from their money.

"A fool and their money are soon parted."

it means republicans did not win more votes, there is no mandate - Trump won, but he did not get a mandate from the people

in fact republicans lost seats in Congress

I'm relieved that those with truckloads of money, major influence, and powerful connections are still able to be offset by a large collection of voters. Thank goodness.

No, Whether they donated to Trump foundation, or thought they had bought Government actions that benefitted them through the Clinton foundation...I meant these people:

"Tired Dem donors feel like their money got burned "

I understand why the need to deflect of course...but in the end the Democrats and their agenda were rejected. And none of these people saw it coming lol.

The only mandate he lost was California that makes that popular difference. In that regard, your point is really irrelevant.

Hmm, read the OP. Hillary's enormous financial advantage, the mainstream media acting as her free giant superpac, a gazillion of endorsements, all living former presidents openly rooting for her notwithstanding, Trump won the electoral college in a landslide and helped retain th GOP control of the Senate. This is mandate, clear and undeniable.

Republicans won the Senate House and Presidency. That's a mandate.

Silly election math, the majority of voters in NY and California maybe, but 30 states to Trump to 20 to Hillary speak volumes. Tired argument, please put it in the ash pile Dem talking points.

Turning reliable blue Wi, Mi, Pa, and Fla red is a mandate.

FL is reliably purple, not blue or red. 17 of our 27 House members in the last Congress were Republican. We have one Republican Senator and one dem Senator. Our state house is predominantly Republican, we have a Republican governor. We are not a blue state. Presidentially, we are a purple state--pretty much Florida has gone with the winner (except 1992, when we chose GHW Bush instead of Clinton) since 1964.

No, a plurality of voters wanted her to be President. She got less than 50% of the popular vote, hence the majority of voters didn't vote for her.
