I notice you still haven't responded to my other messages asking you to define yourself since you disliked the term democrat, are you liberal, socialist, progressive, communist? what do you define yourself as since you seem to spend SO much time demeaning and belittling others without EVER offering a single solution to anything... because you're once again doing it, saying something is wrong then offering no solution...

you seem to suggest "equal protection" is a big important deal, and thats why you're mocking republicans for daring to protect a group that wants "equal protection" for themselves... did you mean to say, you only support equal protection when its folks you agree with, and you only support equal protection when the political ideology of the folks matches what you think is right, or did you mean to substitute advantage for equal?

if you were concerned with equal protection for all, you would be quite interested in the religious protection of people, but you don't seem interested in that at all, you just seem interested in demeaning and belittling others without offering any ways in which we could protect their religious rights, as well as the rights of those who don't believe in any religion... but you never offer solutions for ALL, you just demean and belittle...

If one religion does and another doesn't it's irrelevant because BOTH ideas are protected.

Like I said - the government shouldn't be involved in marriage in the first place......

I could make the argument that government being involved in marriage violates the First Amendment as it is.

If it makes you feel any better, some Muslims will benefit from this, as well:

So then you agree that it was pure hypocrisy for the Rightwing to be silent on religious freedom and freedom of association when states were banning gay marriage?

    HAHA.....

    Shows how little you know...

So there is equal protection - but you decide who gets equal protection?

Yep, typical progressive tyrant logic there.

I've been on the record before:

I have no problem with any business discriminating so long as all their discrimination policies are publicly posted outside of the business so any potential patron can decide whether or not they want to patronize said business.

Let's see if religious and racist bigots are able to stay in business when anyone will know who they hate before they even open the door.

Ok, I like that you are consistent, but most of the country does not agree with you. This is a democracy, but straight majority rule can result in some pretty horrible injustice and oppression. Which is why our constitution restricts it. If all the store owners are wealthy racist whites, there is no where for black people to obtain food. Maybe you see that as being their problem and not yours, but thankfully, or at least I am hoping, most people don't feel that way.

No not at all - that was a Tenth Amendment issue...

If it even matters even in progressive California the voters voted against gay marriage which shows you plenty right there.

What do you want republicans in Illinois or wherever to do when states are trying to ban gay marriage??

You really don't get it do you?

You don't understand the Bill of Rights or Constitution at all do you?

A group which went to war with America and killed millions of innocent people and another group which conducted a century long campaign of murder and violent intimidation of minorities.

Those aren't terrorists in your mind?

Let's see how far this DO called freedom of religion bill would go.

For you who think that you like this do called freedom of religion bill what if:

What if this bill allows a town clerk to deny a marriage license for couples of bifferentvraces ?

What if the bill allows oarents tonslay their children if they disrespect their parentscas thecBibke says we can or must?

What if thus bill allows us to slay our neighbors if that to not keep Holy the Sabbath as the Bible commands us to?

What if this bill allows us to slay homosexuals by pushing them off tall buildings if we cannot find a cliff as thecBible commands us to?

What if this bill allows let's say a sect of religious nut cases to stone to death any of their adulteresses ad the Bible commands us to?

What if this bill allows a self proclaimed Christian police chief of a town arrest all men and check them for circumcised status and if they are not have the local doctor perform such an act because the Bible commands us to?

So any of you who think this so called religious freedom bill is a great idea do you thinkm the things. I listed are ok for people or law authorities to do to your fellow citizens under this religious" "freedom" bill.

Except it's not a 10th Amendment issue because of the 14th Amendment's extension of the protections of religious freedoms to the State governments.

I want Republicans to stand on the side of religious freedom and oppose banning gay marriage. But that would require them to actually stand by their principles, so it won't happen.

Not every store owner would be the left's most hated villain - the "wealthy racist white". Some would be wealthy racist blacks who don't want white people in their store. Some will be something else entirely. Most business owners will not care one way or the other, since they want to maximize sales and profits as much as possible. The idea that blacks would not be able to buy food from anywhere is ridiculous.

I don't care what they did.

Right now they're not doing anything wrong. When they start physically hurting people let me know - until then they're just a bunch of idiots with unpopular ideas....

Progressives are a bigger threat than the KKK and by far worse than the KKK because progressives are tyrants that promote tyrannical laws and are bigger fascists than Hitler....

So you would be cool with American Muslims creating an American branch of Al Qaeda, just so long as they aren't doing anything right now?

It is a 10th Amendment issue for more reasons than one.

If you want gay marriage to be legal then pass it at the federal level, because then your argument would at least make some sense. Right now your argument is terrible -- it has no legs to stand on...

    - - - Updated - - -

    Absolutely.

Please tho, can you name the last act of terrorism committed by the KKK????

    Can you?

I don't think you can because the KKK isn't terrorizing anyone.

Are there any limits? Should hospitals be allowed to refuse to treat people who are not the same religion as their founder? Can a jewish fireman refuse to put out the fire at the Christian's house? You can't force him to associate with a Christian right?

Nice pile of straw you have there.

There is no freedom under the 1st amendment to do any of the things you mention.

Nope. Because gay marriage is recognized in numerous religions, not to mention amount the secular, so banning it violates those individuals' religious freedoms as protects by the 1st Amendment (and extended to the states by the 14th).

So if Rightists actually support religious freedom, they must oppose banning gay marriage.

But they don't, because in the Rightwing mind "religious freedom" only means "freedom to choose which denomination of (preferably Protestant) Christianity you want to believe in".

Do you have any idea how backwards ass your argument is?

You're actually trying to claim the First Amendment protects gay marriage because SOME religions accept gay marriage.

You're just grasping at straws now aren't you?

    - - - Updated - - -

Firemen refuse to put out fires all the time.

Doctors refuse to perform certain procedures too.

I know its hard to not become triggered by things like this, and I don't say that disparagingly because its part of what taking a stand means.

But consider the issue without any personal bias one way or the other.

The matter of being able to conduct yourself according to your religious beliefs is no different than the matter of "discrimination".

They are both challenges that stand on rightful ground.

They conflict with each other sometimes, this being a good example, but to say that one takes superiority over the other is an arbitrary distinction born of bias.

The best thing to do is to compromise.

The fact is that people have options when it comes to these things.

You can choose to go to another business, just as you could choose to voice a negative opinion about a business that sent you away.

The government shouldn't be involved in that because the government should not be in a position to decide who's rights matter more.

A business that turned away a gay patron simply because they're gay would be engaging in discrimination.

But a business that decides it does not want to produce services that are in direct conflict with their beliefs is simply exercising its right to practice the religion of their choosing.

And the hypocritical manner in which the label of "discrimination" is applied in the scope of this matter is further indication that government should not be involved.

Its not "discrimination" to refuse to to make an anti-gay cake, or to refuse to make a pro-cop cake.

Hell, its not even "discrimination" when a Muslim doesn't want to make a gay cake.

This entire issue is wrought with selectively enforced elements from a specific agenda and it either needs to end or it needs to be tempered with balance.

Progressives think they're the moral police and they think people want to go out of their way to discriminate against others just because they can.

That right there is the problem.

Progressives are delusional people that subscibe to the whole if you're not for gays, minorities (er whatever it may be) that means you hate them and are against them...

Obviously 99% of the general public doesn't give a (*)(*)(*)(*) what gays do just as long as homosexuality isn't being shoved in their face.
