Based on true events and a serialized newspaper edition of the same name
Formulated and adapted by Phillip B. Cole of Woonsocket Rhode Island copyright 2005

Narrator describes how the British expelled the French from Nova Scotia leaving only Native Americans.
The Battle of Quebec eliminated a French military presence in North America (10 minutes during opening credits of biggest budget version).
2 Englishmen decide the best way to repopulate Nova Scotia is to bribe New Englanders.
A messenger runs through the streets of Eastham (Massachusetts Bay Colony) announcing the offer.
The Nickersons, Smiths and other families discuss the options.
Archelaus decides to take the offer, having spent much time there on fishing expeditions.
Archelaus sails on a new fishing trip.
His dad Stephen Smith teaches his daughter- in- law Elizabeth to write.
Archelaus and his fellow fishermen build the cabin and storage shed.
Heartsick, Elizabeth talks to her children about joining her husband in the fall instead of waiting til spring.
Archelaus meets a captain planning a winter fishing trip and signs up.
Elizabeth and her 4 small children ride a shallop with a Captain Smith to Nova Scotia.
They find the cabin empty, but assuming Archelaus will soon return, decide to stay.
    He fishes, unaware.
The children play in the first snows.
    She fishes.
She hunts for the first time.
She has a tense segment with a bear. The bear leaves but depleted the food supply.
She writes in her journal about developments.
Archelaus and his men get stuck in a frozen port.
On a stormy night she hears a noise, expecting a bear but finds a wounded native.
    She nurses him to health.
He shows her how to trap and kill the bear.
Archelaus copes with severe cold and fever, confident at least the family is safe.
    The children get sick.
One of the kids, with a severe fever, wanders out of the cabin, falls into a frozen puddle. The ice helps break the fever.
She uses the ice to revive the other 3.
The native returns, begging her to help a sick native.
The others plan to kill her if she fails.
She prays and applies the ice.
The native revives and they have a party.
Archelaus breaks free from the frozen port.
One more severe cold spell nearly freezes them. Out of wood, she burns her journal.
Archelaus returns just as the first flowers of spring appear.

Phil, I love the idea for this film project and I even posted it to my
Facebook wall. I am linking people to the message who I believe will be interested
in helping you choose a specific location here in Nova Scotia somewhere.

Please describe the set with as much detail as possible?

Are the cabin and storage shed near a body of water?

If so, is it the ocean or a river or lake?

If it is beside a river or lake, how large
    were they roughly?

Are you comfortable with Mrs. Elizabeth Smith doing one or two or perhaps even
    three sessions of prayer?

Would her type of prayer have basically a Catholic or Protestant flavour?

I quoted you in full to this other discussion that will tend to be of interest to many
    Nova Scotia teachers.

Imagine....... a group of people near Sherbrooke, Guysborough County Nova Scotia......

    during the 1930's......

who produce your film in black and white........

to make it look like it was done in the '30's......

I have a number of people right here in my area who could
play a role in the opening gambit..... reality version of this......

that fits with a semi -reality science fiction film series......

This other discussion will give you a good idea of what all I have in mind......

(Hint.... my wife's second language is German. She lived with her Aunt and Uncle in Germany
from the time that she was about 11 until she was 15).....

I was told that President Donald Trump has asked for prayer for
the team over at The Apprentice......

because the ratings seem to be down......

I have a theory on how that little problem could perhaps be addressed.......

Let's make some quick money first: Attack of the flying Oysters. There are some scenes set in Canada and could all be filmed there.

Phil....... I just sent a personal message to tidbit because so far as I am concerned fifty percent of the value of this film concept is his.......
it seems only fair to me because I could not have thought of this without his comment.

Medical courtroom drama starring Dr. Ben Carson proposed.

    Changed email to philbcole@gmail.com.
The President had his head chopped off. Luckily he had a spare.
That's not another Kathy Griffin joke. It's the plot for a new sitcom: Cyborg President!

discussing a film series set in Nova Scotia but occurring more than a century in the past!

Thank you for thinking of me. Since we last spoke things got even worse for me: framed for disturbing the peace, slandered, libeled and perjured, discriminated against, injured, operated on, medicated, survived covid and a lot of other dirty tricks.
My list of potential projects has not decreased and the simple story of one family surviving a Nova Scotia winter is still among the cheapest.

In Judaism there is a tradition that the Sitra Achra goes all out to stop us just before we are on the verge of a massive breakthrough!

Mr. Mordecai Spiro is a Breslovian Chassidic Jew living near Jerusalem who finds this basic idea quite interesting.
