MSNBC Anchor Admits "Our Job" Is To "Control Exactly What People Think"

of other posters on this site post multiple threads all stating the same story that has originally run on other media.

The hilarious headlines are always a dead giveaway. But as Trump has proved, there's a sucker born every minute.

I just watched a great segment on CNN where some right winger tried claiming that Obama was weak on border sucurity and that he sat back and did nothing and yada yada yada, and all the host did was ask why if that was the case did Obama deport more people that Bush or any recent president? She brought all the additional border security that he initiated, how net immigration from Mexico has been negative for almost his whole administration, etc

It was a total smack down by simply stating the facts.

Think he cared? Nope. He just kept trying to deflect and then repeating the same things she so clearly disproved.

And THAT, my friends, is why Trump and Republicans have been brainwashing their base for 30 years to "not watch the evil mainstream news".

The right is now a cult, plain and simple.

 

I saw a blurb today that said TV viewership is down 45% since 2005. There are diverse sources of information available today and TV news is losing their mojo.

This is a good point. But, let's dig a bit deeper. You will acknowledge they are failing. By all track-able metrics, they are failing, yet they don't change their hardcore left wing tactics and propaganda. It's not about business, it's about influence. They are allowed to fail and not change which is not a free market. The fix is truly in. This is an attempt at brainwashing by leftists. Thankfully, most Americans get it and reject it.

Lol, talk about projecting! It's the right who a long time ago realized that their comical bs could never stand the light of day, so they had to create their little information bubble of AM radio, Fox News, Etc, you know, propaganda outlets with zero journalistic standards where they could lie and brainwash at will.

 

They are, or at least they used to be. I assume they still are. I used to get the talking points of the day email. We didn't get them everyday. Generally 2-3 days per week. It was a little more in depth than one might imagine. It let people know what issues were going to be on the front burner and gave coordinated messaging on them on what to emphasize. Some people literally parrot them down to the phrases but others just sort of use them as a starting point. I used them more as a warning as to what the reactionaries would be calling about to get in the right frame of mind. The person for whom I worked was rather unpredictable as to how he came down on party pushed issues as he was rather pragmatic about not carrying water at the expense of campaign donations so it was nice to already know ahead of time what narrow path I as a staffer would have to be walking this week. There was way too much at stake when you represent a largely rural area with some deep-pocket businessmen to be dictated positions to by an urban-centric party leadership that wasn't going to umbrella much money to you to begin with even if you walked in lock-step with them.

Well, to be fair - the whole MSM thingy is a misdirect from Trump to take heat off some problems he has been facing dealing with Congress, the Courts and
foreign affairs missteps.

Whole lot of hypocrisy on both sides of this issue.

 

Not just her comment, the whole theory that the MSM is somehow intent on controlling people's thoughts.

Its just a business. They don't care what you think as long as they sell advertising space.

So yes they have their biases but that's because we have our biases. It is of little wonder that they would reflect the thoughts of the established middle class, because that is the most valuable consumer demographic.
