The OP charges MSNBC with "brainwashing". That's BS, it's an attempt to delegitimize the press. They've got the same job to do as Fox, etc, and collectively, they're all doing a good job. Dry your tears.

Republicans fought harder against Trump than Democrats did. What other theories work for you these days?

It's straight from the horse's mouth. What's there to debate?

Because in typical right wing style, the OP is taking a few chosen words and intentionally drawing a fake conclusion that have nothing to do with what she was insinuating.

Her point was clearly that people need to get their news from credible sources, not from discredited pathological liars tweeting in their underwear while sitting on the toilet squeezing out their KFC at 3am.

Could both things be true? They want to sell you stuff AND they want to influence what you think? I think that's obviously true and there is a reason why
a highly partisan news outlet like MSNBC represents the outer fringes of leftist thought: that's the political viewpoint they are pushing and hope to propagate.

Please, some on establishment we're against him, but that's it. The real leaders of the nutcase right wing base loved trump from the start.

And establishment republicans not liking trump have nothing to do with how the right has been brainwashing for years to not listen to anyone but right wing propaganda outlets.

And neither issue has anything to do with this thread.

LMAO...so wait, if the NYT and Washington Post and CNN are "biased", what the $&@" does that make Brietbart and Limbaugh and Fox?

I mean it's such an insane argument. You have to be a brainwashed cult member to even attempt at squaring such hypocrisy in your head.

If I could relate "thought control" to a product or service they were peddling for profit, sure. But I don't see them risking profit / market share for the sake of thought control.

There might be something of an echo chamber effect, though. But intentional thought control from a commercial entity without a corresponding profit motive is not realistic.

Seems to me the topic is about someone in the media admitting it is the media's job to "control what people think".
Seems to me this de-legitimatizes the press, in and of itself.
    How am I wrong?

With respect, the left wing went in pretty hard on Trump's comment about Sweden, which was an equally perverse reading of context.

This behaviour is not limited to left or right wing, but reflects an underlying fanaticism and unseemly opportunism that has infected politics on both sides.

LMAO, clearly even audio AND visual aid is not enough to break the spell the MSM has on you. The video explains the tactic and you prove it's success! Oh BTW, I sort of enjoyed the tangent you spun off on, 3am, KFC and all that *Yoink*

MSNBC has not been relegated to the very depths of ratings hell because they've sought a far left wing
identity that makes even CNN seem reasonable? Well that's news in and of itself!
Just check the network's viewership numbers and tell me again how they wouldn't dare threaten their profit share to chase an ideological agenda.
You should probably retract your claim.

Profit is important for MSNBC and I'm sure they'd love both big ratings and their ideological identity but undoubtedly they made a choice long ago that ideology was what they were really after. The facts prove that.

I think it has that appearance without any actual organization on the level of "footsoldiers". No doubt they all read the same things and picked up the same words and concepts, and started using them. Naturally this isn't limited to lefties - just look at how quickly the "fake news" meme has spread...

Jeez, Brietbart and Limbaugh are uber-biased and proud of it, they are not the MSM, they don't claim to be, they are not "news", they are openly partisan opinionated entities.

The mainstream media on the other hand claims honesty, impartiality and fairness while overwhelmingly spewing leftist, establishment propaganda under the guise of news and information.

That you try to debunk the existence of the overwhelming leftist MSM bias with this "there is a tiny pro-right media segment" non-sequitur speaks for itself.

Au contraire: the Swedish government "made fun" of the perverse reading.

The response to the real problems of large-scale immigration to Sweden? https://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/nov/24/sweden-asylum-seekers-refugees-policy-reversal
(Now they have scaled back their intake in 2016, but the situation that caused the scale-back hasn't gone away because the haven't deported immigrants.)

One journalist's clumsy wording of their opinion does not delegitimize the whole press corp. Painting them as brainwashing their viewers is not flying.

It is in a way, though, since it's their job to inform us.

Giving this woman the benefit of the doubt, she simply spoke of this in a way that could be misinterpreted.

But really, who was the bigger ass, the guy that was right but missed it by one day, or the guy that tried to down play his own countries statistics and one day later is explaining riots ;)
