Ah, the waft of liberal smug. perhaps these little peccadillos weren't ever meant for the little folk, so wash them away with a smug. It's so casual. So paternalistic, indifferent really. The collusion between the whitehouse and the use of the intel services to attempt to rig an election might have just gone, unnoticed....
Except that the classification of the information has nothing to do with the need to know. As in, the casual collection of data not relevant to the warrant then being misused by those with enough power to force the info to be exposed to them for their own election rigging agenda....
Why was an ambassador "trying to figure out" anything? How did an ambassador KNOW about anything the NSA / CIA collected and redacted? Powers made request(s) daily, every day, in Obama final 365 days. So again ... how long had she secretly working for the CIA? And why didn't Clapper know?
Which didn't stop you from then approving of the abuse of office. Seems that familiarity with the law doesn't then translate into approval for you. Informative.
So you don't think that the UN ambassador has a "need to know" who is playing footsie with America's enemies and allies? ESPECIALLY when alien/enemy diplomats are concerned? Not that such practicalities are to be considered in your wholly unsubstantiated partisan accusations.
I do not. Actually, I find that her attempt at access is well outside of her portfolio. I'd suggest that it was exactly her obliqueness that was a considered part of the access requests, as in no one would have ever thought that this was appropriate, or ever thought a request would have come from her.
Actually I am a progressive who is more concerned with the existence of the surveillance state. In other words, I am more outraged that they are gathering the information to begin with than that they have selectively leaked/revealed it
Let's keep in mind these claims are based on anonymous reports. She's not the first ambassador to make unmasking requests (according to Fox News) if it's true. So obviously it's not out of bounds. Her lawyer said she was also part of the national security council
Hmmm... so now we're not accepting as holy writ "anonymous" sources? How droll. You folks need to come with operating instructions. All these flip flops are tiresome.
They were convinced Hillary was going to win and protect them... Ooops! Were these inquiries about U.S. citizens legitimate in the context of national security? Or was the White House using its powers to destroy the opposition by learning about them and then selectively leaking to their friends in the media? You cannot use the power of gathering intelligence to destroy your political opponents. If officials of the Obama administration did, they need to go to jail. Are we in agreement?
Wait so now you ARE fully trusting of anonymous sources? I'm fine if that's the standard. I was under the impression you were skeptical of them.
Yes I agree. And if team trump colluded with Russia they should go to jail and he should be impeached...right?
Funny. But the table doesn't turn. These are illiberal lefty standards, not mine. I have seen several corroborating accounts of this now. FOIA will demonstrate the veracity of the claims. Time is not your friend here.
What's the deal with Susan's and unmasking... Due to the fact that trying to distract to Obama, HillBill, Comey....etc...has been ineffective and actually dealing with the realities of Trump are unacceptable, the time has come to use the lesser tiers of reality avoidance in order to maintain faith and worship. It's really as simple as that.
If they committed a Federal Crime that has jail time as punishing for violating it, of course. Give me the CFR number of the crime you believe was committed and the name of who you believe committed it.
Under the U.S. Signals Intelligence Directive (section 18 ), Rice was authorized to unmask the names of U.S. citizens, as long as it was essential to national security. Unmasking for political purposes is a serious felony punishable by up to 5 years behind bars. If Rice requested that a name be unmasked in a document that had nothing whatsoever to do with foreign surveillance involving national security, she created a false statement in her unmasking request, which is a crime under 18 USC 1001. The unmasking facilitated the felonious leaking. Under 18 USC 798, it is a felony to knowingly and willfully communicate classified material to an unauthorized person. 50 USC 1809, forbids the unauthorized disclosure of national security information and there are three other statutes may also have been violated. Rice is a habitual serial liar that burst onto the national scene when she did a circuit of 5 talk shows peddling the Benghazi lies. The question asked at the time was, of course, why is Susan Rice doing these interviews rather than Hillary Clinton. And the answer became clear, these were obvious and unconvincing lies and Susan Rice was trotted out to lie to the American People, rather than Hillary. Susan Rice has lied a great deal about the unmasking, spying and leaking: On March 22, she was asked by Judy Woodruff on PBS' "NewsHour” if she knew whether “Trump transition officials, including the president, may have been swept up in surveillance of foreigners at the end of the Obama administration”. Rice responded, “I know nothing about this.” Later she reversed herself completely, claiming she knew all about it. That is, she knew of the incidental collection and, further, she is the one who requested that names be unmasked. This would not be the first time she conjured up a false narrative. She infamously hustled the deception that a videotape triggered the Benghazi attack in September 2012. Later, when incriminating emails surfaced, she admitted the story was untrue. She further tarnished her reputation when she said that Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who faces charges of desertion and consorting with the enemy, served with “honor and distinction.” Susan Rice Claimed She Never Leaked Anything: During her MSNBC interview she declared, “I leaked nothing to nobody, and never have.” Really? Your Turn
Rice and Power are 21st century banana republic's new song and dance team - The Chiquita Banana Girls. "We're Chiquita bananas and we've come to say Bananas have to ripen in a certain way!"
Yet nobody who has seen the Intel has climed she broke the law...:in fact mcmasters renewed her clearance lol Ok my turn: Collusion is the descriptive word the news media has settled on to cover many potential illegal actions by the Trump campaign, which could range from aiding and abetting (18 USC 2) to conspiracy per se (18 USC 371) to conspiring to violate several potentially applicable laws like: 18 USC 1030—fraud and related activity in connection with computers; 18 USC 1343—wire fraud; or 52 USC 30121—contributions and donations by foreign nationals. Also, 18 USC 2381—for, contrary to a widespread belief that there must be a declared war, the Justice Department as recently as 2006 indicted for “aid and comfort” to our enemies, the form of collusion better known as treason. Collusion is the perfect word to cover such crimes, pejorative and inclusive.
