It's not beyond imagination that these scenarios could arise--especially led by the new ultra-right or Alt-Right conservatives, who appear incapable of respecting the rights of anyone other than themselves, and care even less about the nation as a whole.

 

I have NEVER advocated confiscating the weapons of anyone on this forum or anywhere else. But I don't agree with your assertion that the 2nd Amendment guarantees the right of ANYONE to own ANY KIND of gun conceived by Man. The Supreme Court has already ruled that controls can be imposed on certain types of firearms without abridging the 2nd Amendment. I support that action.

 

"Taking your guns away" is a false assumption. We who call for more effective gun control laws are NOT seeking to take away guns from owners--just prevent high risk new owners from buying them. Please understand that very important fact.

A person who shoots people illegally becomes a "criminal" after the fact by definition. Hopefully they then get identified, officially deemed an intolerable threat to society, and separated from the greater public. Pretending the reverse could be the case, putting the "criminal" before the crime, the cart before the horse, is then what: inane? dishonest? both? You pick.
