A private meeting. How many people from each party were attending that supposed private meeting. And the harm was done by our moron President who isn't intelligent enough to figure out that racist remarks by the President of the US are going to get out just as surely as his hush money payments or his claims about grabbing ***** or his admitting chasing a martied woman after his marriage to his latest wife. If you elect an infantile President it is reasonable to expect onfantile behavior.

The US is trying to do thst with it's current President although unsucessfully so far. Most Presidents grow into the office, trump seems to grow smaller.

Yours is the totally "twisted view" if you think there my German ancestors were the "same" as today's would-be 'immigrants' from Central America, Haiti, or Africa. At a time in our history when we needed more people who were willing to work hard, were educated fairly well, and came from a civilized, well-ordered society, we brought in a great many people who wanted to improve their lives and their fortunes. This was good for them, and good for the United States because of who and what they were.

By contrast, what do the hordes who want to pour in here from the 'shithole' countries have to offer America besides their needs, their problems, their poverty, and their diseases...? Think: we already have enough worthless, useless, parasitic people among us as it is! We do not (NOT) need any more of them!

As opposed to the Conservative version where it is only racism if it refers to white people.

    "Large" is vague.

You may need to deny it, but Haitian immigrants and their children for whom they work hard to provide opportunities they would not have had in Haiti have contributed significantly to America. Ask Representative Mia Love (R).

president sh!thole does not represent what is best in America, nor in the Republican Party.

Hey genius, can you find any post in "Current Events" that isn't about opinions?

Hey genius, are you genius enough to realize the whole purpose and subject of this thread is not immigration? FYI, I am very opposed to open borders. I want strict immigration rules and management and enforcement like all other countries have in order to benefit our own society as they do. But some are so blinded by partisan hate that they don't think clearly about what the subject of a thread actually is. This one is about words that are entirely inappropriate for any president to use for obvious reasons that may escape you.

Did you copy all of that from the Democratic Party talking points or from Socialistworker.org?

Why are LWers conflating living in a shithole with being a shithole? Yes, there are shitholes in the US (eg. Detroit) but some entire countries are shitholes.

Sorry, but disagreed. As the link and definition below notes, it's a reaction to trauma. As the word "trigger" implies, it's a "spring-loaded" reaction to stimulus meaning people react, often uncontrollably, not just act. Hence my disagreement since, as previously mentioned, the term is often misused and, secondly, not everyone is mentally damaged enough to have triggers.

    https://www.goodtherapy.org/blog/psychpedia/trigger
    Trigger
A trigger in psychology is a stimulus such as a smell, sound, or sight that triggers feelings of trauma.

    What is a Trigger?
In the strictest sense of the term, trigger is used to refer to experiences that “re-trigger” trauma in the form of flashbacks or overwhelming feelings of sadness, anxiety, or panic. The brain forms a connection between a trigger and the feelings with which it is associated, and some triggers are quite innocuous. For example, a person who smelled incense while being raped might have a panic attack when he or she smells incense in a store.

The term is used more loosely to refer to stimuli that trigger upsetting feelings or problematic behaviors, and these feelings are often associated with a psychiatric condition. People who have triggers may re-engage in unhealthy behaviors when exposed to triggers. For example, a person recovering from anorexia might be triggered by photos of very thin people to begin starvation once again. Some mental health-oriented message boards and blogs put “trigger warnings” on material that might be harmful to some people. It is impossible to predict or avoid all triggers because so many triggers are innocuous, but images of violence, substance abuse, or weapons are sometimes labeled with a trigger warning

    You are wrong

The remark was offensive to africans

    No question about that

But it was not intended for their ears and it was not racist

    Africa is a shithole

It was Trump that conflated the two. The statement was made during a meeting on immigration and DACA. And the fact that he frlt comfortable making such a statement in a room almost entirely of Republicans says as much about the Republican party and it's supporters as it does about Trump.

Nice rant, derail and personal attacks. It goes with your stunning personality. Sweetie, we have poor Americans that lack care, we shouldn't be importing more poor until we take care of the Americans first. Got it?

ROFL. Thank you for confirming what others have said: the far Left wants to lock up or disenfranchise anyone who disagrees with them.

You mean I don’t see everything through a race obsessed filter. You apparently don’t know what the meeting was about.

Agreed on all points. I'm watching CNN now and they made showed how the Haitians in Haiti are protecting Trumps comments, then pointed out how candidate Trump had gone to a Haitian-American section of Miami and promised to treat them equally then the talking-head complained that Trump broke his campaign promise. WTF?

There is no right to immigrate to America
. There's a difference between taking care of Americans, regardless of race, gender or national origin, and importing non-Americans from shithole countries.

I mean you take it upon yourself to defend everything President Shithole does or says reflexively. You folks are saying everything from "I didn't hear him say it" to "did he really say it?" to "those countries weren't on the agenda." It's ridiculous. Why bother? He has repeatedly shown himself to be a racist. Either you don't care or you like it and share his views. Why not just own up to it?

No one knows who you are. Why persist in the charade? Do you believe Cotton when he says he doesn't recall the Liar-in-Chief saying those words?
