Elk vs Watkins supports it. If he can get legislation, so much the better.

In the Old West town marshals routinely outlawed guns in their city limits. Why didn't the SCOTUS overrule that practice as being a violation of the Second Amendment?

I don't know, but the political landscape has changed a lot in the last 150 years.

Yes, but don't legal residents still owe their allegiance to another country? Even citizens can have an allegiance to another country if they are dual citizens.

Are you equating 'open borders' with 'illegal immigration?' The two things are really quite separate.

Sure, but again, that is up to the courts to decide. All he has to do is sign an EO and by doing so, it will force it through to the courts. Wouldn't this be the only way to determine the legality of it?

Including for illegal aliens? Trump hasn't spoken against birthright citizenship as a whole I don't think.

You said, "If anything coming from the GOP is fine, regardless of legal precedent, then they are partisan." I'm not sure how this explains how they are partisan.

I think you mean Elk v Wilkins. About an Indian born on a reservation.
More directly on point, as you know, is US v Wong Kim Ark

This is all hypothetical unless Trump signs an EO, which I very much doubt he will do. This was all just a dog whistle to his gullible base.

My original question was to ask someone to identify any politician who has said they are in favor of either - open borders or illegal immigration.

No-one has given me any names so far ...

Yes, and an election had nothing to do with it. Of course. It amazes me that people cannot see Trump tossing such obvious bones to them. The level of gullibility he seems able to feed off is just incredible.

Well I've never said that I can quote someone, but why the hell would someone come out and openly admit such a stupid thing?
My question is, what else are we to believe with the adoption of sanctuary policies? Don't these policies assist illegal immigration?

Something we haven't discussed about the Wong precedent:

So my point is, that "allegiance to another country" doesn't seem to be the best argument against birthright citizenship.

No? Everyone knows that a country full of people loyal to other countries is how countries survive....right?

Oh sure, but what about my point that some people who owe allegience to one country also owe allegience to another?

Why should I be concerned about what other countries accept for themselves? As long as they are no threat to my country, then that is their concern.
