I have to agree with this honestly. I think "hate crimes" is a pretty crappy designation, and I have real problems with punishing people what they think.

I don't hold any belief on the fairness of the trial. I don't know, think, or believe one way or the other.

How can I?

Do I believe that there have been unfair trials? Do I believe that there have been fair trials?

My answer to both is: yes.

I have no idea where this trial sits on that scale. My hope is that justice was served.

I am amazed by those who are apparently having difficulty with this position. It seems to be an utterly simple concept, to me.

 

I'm not sure that First Degree murder is appropriate (I don't think he woke up that morning planning to kill that woman), but murder is definitely appropriate and I hope this guy never gets out of prison. I disagree with separate federal hate crime charges--it's a waste of money, and IMHO, it violates double jeopardy.

 

Of course there have been unfair trials, the difficulty folks are having with your premise is you a questioning a trial you claim you know nothing about.

 

So when did the idea hit him to drive his car through a crowd of people, does it really matter if he planned it 3 days b4 or 3mins b4 he did it.

"white supremist", just as "far right" is one of those terms that defies accurate definition. It is thrown out by the Left and their media masters to describe anyone they with who they disagree. Is a "white supremist" one who argues the superiority of Western Culture? or someone who hates people of other races? What are they? I think a true hater of non-whites may be more rare than transgendered people.
