But as you know from the other thread, democrats had did not possess a time machine, so they could not have caused the recession, which caused double digit UE.

The GOP, as economics and history teaches, caused the Great Recession.

    1) I guess if you ignore the first two years of fhis admin when he had Dem control of Congress.

    2) yeah there is...starts in 2010...here from the Labor Dept....as you can see....https://data.bls.gov/timeseries/lns14000000

Every year the Dems had Congress it climbed, when they lost Congress...it began to come down.

Why would they need a time machine? They were in power....they had the control. Not sure why a time machine is so important to you.

Since that is not a sentence, it is impossible to be sure what you're trying to say.

So you're saying that under Obama the UE rate started coming down almost immediately and KEPT coming down. Thanks for confirming the great job he did.

No...read the chart I provided.....it didn't start coming down until the GOP gained the House....years after he took office.

They would need to travel back in time to cause the recession.

Because we have established that they did not pass any legislation while in power, which caused the recession. That was done years prior by Republicans.

Why would they have to pass legislation to cause the recession? They did nothing. They in fact, praised Fannie and Freddie, and ignored the warnings that they were at major risk. I do agree, that Congress didn't pass the 1977 Bill encouraging the Sub-Prime lending....the Dems in the late 70s did...but they certainly knew what was going on, and did nothing to help prevent it.

    Are you serious?
We’ve already established that this is incorrect.

The GOP fought like crazy to defeat everything and succeeded except for ACA.

The GOP form 1994 to 2006 set the Great Recession to come in stone, and went right back to those principles in 2010.

    1) Yes, I'm serious....not one piece of legislation is going to cause such a melt down....

    2) No we haven't....in fact quite the opposite...you just want to live in some fantasy

    1) Actually they did fight a lot ....but unfortuately couln't stop the "progressive" wave of spending and legislation that prolonged the pain and suffering of Americans, which ultimately lead to record deficits, record debt, and record unemployment highs.

    2) that's just not true...certainly they could have done more to prevent it....but by the time the dangers came to light they were out of power.

Oh, Jake, Jake, Jake... will you forever fight against the facts?

The Federal Reserve gave us the "recovery", such as it was, 'rescuing' many of Wall Street gamblers who caused the recession in the first place, while creating another gigantic 'fraud balloon'. And the ACA...? As passed by your Democrat-dominated Congress and signed by your "Messiah" Obama, it was UNCONSTITUTIONAL on its face as it went to the Supreme Court.

The equally unconstitutional mystery was why and how Chief "Justice", John Roberts, effectively rewrote the unlawful "mandate" passed by the Democrats, and made it barely 'legal' (in theory) by unilaterally deciding it was a "tax".

Ha! Well, along comes Trump and enough Republicans to yank the bogus "tax" component (penalty) out of it, and now the whole damn thing is poised and ready to go straight into the trash, where it should have gone in the first place!

My only question? What the hell ever happened to that $2,500 that Obama said I'd save on my healthcare premiums EACH AND EVERY YEAR? Gee... could it be that the "Messiah" actually LIED about that, in addition to ramming an unconstitutional healthcare scam through his own Congress...?! :roflol:

[IMG]. "Did you dumb muh-fuh's really BELIEVE all that 'ACA' horseshit...?!" :tears:

Pollycy clearly does not know the facts of the Great Recession. 'struth can look above for the already given reasons for the GOP's continuing economic failures and resulting economic tragedies.

The GOP and the Dems worked constitutionally to end the errors of Bush. The ACA passed constitutionally, and it was found such by SCOTUS. What those who argue against it have to say is ludicrous.

It is fun to watch these people scream now. Nothing will change from then.

You say, "The ACA passed constitutionally, and it was found such by the SCOTUS"...? Then why did Roberts have to mangle it at the Supreme Court level, unilaterally changing it from the "mandate" that Obama and the Democrats passed, into a "tax" instead?!

A lot of the blame for the Great Recession DOES go to Wall Street gamblers and scam artists, and they are found in great numbers in BOTH the Republican and Democrat Parties.

But you ignore the fact (FACT) that a huge proportion of the problem was caused by stupid morons buying WAY more house than they could afford, based on their incomes! When people can't even do 4th-grade arithmetic, the LAST thing in the world they should be doing is getting the government involved to make it even easier for them to f*ck EVERYTHING up with lower underwriting standards and Democrat "affordable housing" initiatives!

But that is exactly what a lot of influential Democrats in Congress did -- and then they tried to pretend like it never happened. 'Bahney Fwank' comes immediately to mind....

As payrolls surge, business makes less profit and layoffs may be the result which contributes to recession.

Pollycy and 'struth can make all the assertions they want, but it matters nothing because they have no solid evidence.
