Welcome to my hometown! By the way tomorrow I'll visit with my wife this interesting place Its name could be translated as "Mimino near Akop". What is interesting here? Mimino is a Georgian name. Akop is an Armenian name. In their usual habitat they usually cut throat each other. But in Siberia they develop business together. Siberia ia a really strange place
Ladies and gentlemen... tomorrow it'll be -30C (-22F)... And it's necessary to go working. I accept condolences
If to be honest I never believed it. If you spit from the 4th floor, it may be But I never lived at temperature less than -50C.
What is it possible look at in Omsk? I think one of the things are Cathedrals. For example that one. The view at night The winter view What is it interesting in this cathedral? It was destroyed at 1935. In 2007 it was built again. It a new cathedral.
Next cathedral was built by cossacks. Its name is the Cossack Cathedral. Omsk is cossack's city. They built it and they lived here. My grandfather was a cossack. But... In Omsk we don't like cossacks. We name them as clowns. Do you know why? They were nationalists and criminals. We can't afford to be nationalists.
No condolesces pal. I'll take a walk in 40 below to working for hours in just-above-freezing rain any day I live east of the Cascades where its cold and dry, but I work on the other side where its less cold but perpetually wet. Ick.
It's too cool even for me I don't like a frost below -20C (-4F). My favorite temperature is between -10C and 0C (+14F - +32F). But we have a very hot summer. +40C ( +104F) happens every year. What about Alaska?
You get to 104 in Siberia? We get there occassionally, but we dont get much below -10F in winter. My understanding is summer in Alaska gets up to maybe 80F?
We like to ride the snow hill (gorka). In every city they are. They are in Omsk too. When I was younger we, boys, did it standing on legs. We like high gorkas. Especially when girls were there. Could you do it?
Yes, we name it a "continental climate". By the way the latitude of Omsk is 55. It is further south of Moscow. Water is warmer +22C (+72C)
Oh wow. I thought being in Siberia meant you were in northern Russia. How much of Russia isn't in Siberia?
Omsk is pretty far south, does that moderate the climate? And I see Vladivostok, thought that was in Siberia but I'm wrong.
