Lenin once said that if he was given one generation of youth he could transform the world. He's had two generations. After all the abuse our children and grandchildren have been through in school--hearing over and over that their race is genocidal and hearing bogus stories about the slaughter of tens of millions of natives etc, that they seem to want to be dispossessed, disrespected, and threatened. They think we deserve it.
Of course I don't want apartheid, but you can't put people into positions of power just because their skin isn't white. They have rolling blackouts, the water supply is failing. The live behind barbed wire fences because home invasions are common. Farmers are tortured to death. The police are all corrupt. Post-apartheid SA was supposed to be the rainbow nation. It nothing but a pile of pooh now.

What specifically do you want to help stop multiculturalism? Be clear. One mind just wanted a poll. Is that all you want to?

    Be clear

What are you talking about, "One mind just wanted a poll"? What I want is a world based on meritocracy.

An accurate poll to determine if your "assumption" has any validity, due to it being factual is surely needed in order to discuss this, and to get a sense if you believe things based upon fact, or not. For me, facts matter, and have great relevance. How about you?

So to discuss this, seriously, we would have to see if your beliefs that most americans are in support of multiculturalism, in america, as opposed to assimilation into western, american culture and our society. I think that would be valuable, to get the facts on the table and then move from there. You seem to contend that the american people believe as you do, that multiculturalism is superior to assimilation, not only that, but that this is what americans demand, and therefore you believe these americans should get what they want and believe in.

I question whether this is indeed what most americans want, and I would even question the mentality, the ability of those minds to be rational, logical, reasonable, and to make decisions that are constructive instead of dangerously destructive if indeed this is what most of us want.

I question whether the majority of us, are actually on your ideological team. Problem is of course, we don't have any science based research to tell us if you are correct, or if I am correct in regards to what most of us want, and demand.

No way in hell could I rationally trust any of the people that did the polling for the 2016 election. Clearly they didn't know how to get a poll that actually reflects reality, or knew, and their bias corrupted the entire process.

I happen to think that most americans understand that multiculturalism, instead of assimilation inevitably creates division, which then creates disorder, socially, and breaks the american people into a multitude of various cultures/tribes, with zero cohesion socially, which in turn creates problems, some fiscally costly, in order to try to address what intentional division has created.

If mulitculturalism is promoted, over the idea that american culture should be promoted, and assimilation, in order to provide for a stronger healthier ,less divisive society, and if multiculturalism does insure more division, greater disorder, socially, creating more problems, then a rational, logical, responsible mind could never and would never accept it at all. And that speaks so poorly of those on the modern left who insist MC is superior, in all areas, over assimilation into an existent culture, in order to minimize future division, disorder and conflict.

Given how ugly this political division is today, unlike in the past, having reached a degree that is socially destructive, we should not beg for even more division, disorder and conflict that I think MC inevitably creates. So, IMO, only the irresponsible destructive kind of mind would opt for MC or assimilation into our culture, or any other nation's culture that has lots of immigration into it from cultures that are not agreeable.

As long as Trump does not have one generation to corrupt, we will be fine.

    Pluralism works. "Multiculturalism" does not.

    Why?

Because "multiculturalism" is merely a "progressive" euphemism for tribalism, and tribalism invariably leads to social fragmentation, disharmony and conflict.

Multiculturalism seems to be working where I live. Pretty damn well a matter of fact.

Many people from many cultures sharing some pretty basic human values and enjoying the best of those cultures in a reasonably free democratic society. Besides which the food is great and the parties legend.

How is it working? All I've heard on that score concerns mexican restaurants and white kids listening to rap music.

honestly, i don't think Americans understand culture. We go to a taco bell and think that's being multicultural, or we go to China town and think that buying some chinese takeout is multiculturalism. Hell, there are asian-americans that actually think they're asian, even though they've never been to asia. African-Americans who have never been to Africa, Italian-Americans who have never been to Italy.

Then when they do visit foreign countries, they'll never meet any natives. I've got a friend in NZ now, and all I hear about is how she meets people from Canada, Ukraine, England, Korea, and Japan. Tourists stay with other tourists, and then they come back home and say "I traveled to X" but in reality, they couldn't do much more than locate where they spent their time on a map. They certainly learn nothing of the culture.

If this observation were correct, "Because 'multiculturalism' is merely a 'progressive' euphemism for tribalism, and tribalism invariably leads to social fragmentation, disharmony and conflict", then there would be problems, but it is not.

The poster does not understand multiculturalism, progressivism, or tribalism.

Considering the history of the U.S., the development of multiculturalism as emphasize the great attributes of America while whittling down its bad aspects.

If multiculturalism is a situation where two distinct cultures are living under one political system, then there is no question that multiculturalism does not work. And the US is probably the best example of how multiculturalism does not work in reality. Because in the US, distinct cultures tend to separate voluntarily into their own spaces. All across the US, there are communities with distinct cultural identities who live fairly separate lives from other communities. This is the natural state of humans. People with distinct cultures cannot share too much political sovereignty without coming into serious conflict. And that is why the framers created a FEDERAL government, to maintain a relatively more decentralized political order across the country. A federation is designed to allow for significant amounts of local and cultural autonomy precisely because multiculturalism is a repeated failure.

So why do the democrats who espouse multiculturalism as a strength want a humongous overbearing federal government?

Hell, when Obama was President, any dissent was said to be racist. If that was actually true, you'd think they would want a much more limited federal government. Now it's Trump, and they can't stand the guy, while also angry that the federal government doesn't have even more power.

That is a prima facie fallacy in Ethereal's statement above.

The races, ethnicities, religions, etc., come together willingly into and throughout the public forum of education, business, recreation, etc.

The Constitution recognizes the right of association in the private forum.

I certainly wouldn't try to argue with much of your discussion of American tourists though I have met many American's who are quite well informed about the larger world.

I was actually referring to Canada's experience with multiculturalism though. It has mostly been pretty successful though there are of course tensions and contention.

and I have met almost no Americans who are well informed about the larger world. That's because I've actually done it.

Americans don't know anything outside of their own communities, if I'm honest.

As for Canada, well you're talking about a country that doesn't have a collective brain. Sure, there are many who can think, but most of them are as braindead as a watermelon.

You might want to figure out why there are "tensions and contentions". Could that be because they're turning it into the third world, and some Canadians aren't all that enamored with the push towards being a nothingburger?

The more of them that Canada takes in, the easier it will be for them to reach the US when they get around to prosthletyzing y'all? The Canadians are doing you no favours.

There have been all kinds of problems with "multiculturalism" in places like Europe where its leaders have openly confessed and lamented its failure:

Angela Merkel: German multiculturalism has 'utterly failed'
Chancellor's assertion that onus is on new arrivals to do more to integrate into German society stirs anti-immigration debate
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/oct/17/angela-merkel-german-multiculturalism-failed

I don't know if you're completely oblivious to that fact or in denial but either way it's obvious you can't address this subject in an informed and/or honest manner.

Your inability to distinguish the difference between pluralism and "multiculturalism" qualifies as ignorance on your part, not mine.

That being said, I'm willing to overlook your gratuitous remark and help you understand the difference so you can begin addressing this subject in a competent manner.

Since you're this is all new to you I'll try and keep it simple. Consider America's pluralistic creed: E Pluribus Unum - "From Many, One". This statement neatly sums up what pluralism is all about, and as a matter of social and immigration policy it has worked quite well here in the United States and elsewhere where immigrants and citizens are encouraged to embrace the values, laws and institutions that bind us together as a people. This does not mean one has to abandon their cultural heritage - in fact, Americans are inclined to celebrate them.

"Multiculturalism", on the other hand, operates in a completely opposite fashion. Immigrants and citizens are not required and encouraged to embrace the values, laws and institutions of the nation they live in (aka integration), and naturally a tribalist social and immigration policy results in the social fragmentation, disharmony and conflict that is a feature of tribalistic societies.

You obviously know little about the history of the U.S.. For centuries our nation has based its social and immigration policy on pluralism, not "multiculturalism" (tribalism). Get with the program, man - it's E Pluribus Unum, not E Unum Pluribus.

Another thing you need to learn is the courtesy of using the Reply tab/button when responding to other people's posts. I'm not the first person who has admonished you for this and after two years you should have learned to extend this courtesy to others by now...

Correct your own issues, Talon. Your above post is generally wrong, Talon, particularly "You obviously know little about the history of the U.S." as well as "Another thing you need to learn is the courtesy of using the Reply tab/button when responding to other people's post."

Multiculturalism works well in the U.S.

    For all of us.

And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.” - I Samuel 1:14

Have you ever assumed something only to find out that your assumption was wrong? Sure, we all have. How embarrassing! That is what Eli did. He assumed Hannah was drunk; and of course, she wasn’t. We assume that when we see something that we see it all and see it correctly. We assume when someone tells us something that they are truthful.

Let's give all some grace today on the boards.
