Exactly. And just like you said. They had a ton of chances to win the game AFTER the call. The D just had to stop Goff. They couldn't. Then, they win the toss and Brees throws an unforgivable pick. And, let us not forget, the Rams took a big chance (with field position) by trying that 57-yd FG. Bottom line: Saints crying over spilt milk.
Excellent point in bold. EXCELLENT. I was actually surprised they attempted it. I was thinking "Why risk giving Brees such good field position? PUNT IT!". Good for the Rams for trusting their kicker. They deserved that win. They EARNED it.
I thought exactly the same thing. Why not Punt and make them drive the length of the field? If he misses it, Drew only needs a couple of first downs. Great move to have faith in the kicker. Perfect conditions, indoors, but 57 yards is 57 yards.
Most, even the best kickers, would have missed it 6/10 times, IMO. That kicker soaked in the pressure, and executed the way he was trained. Good for him. Didn't the saints try and ice him prior?
Sad that the saints fans are using ONE missed call to take glory away from a guy who trained his entire life to kick one important field goal. Cheers to the Rams. Cheers to the real saints fans that aren't blinded by this stupidity of "no call reviews". Cheers to Pat Mahomes and the Chiefs (great game) and Cheers to the GOAT Brady.
Yup. 1st time in NFL History both Conf Champ games went to OT. And speaking of Mahomes, what an Epic 4th Q.
As a die hard pats fan who grew up less than 2 miles from the stadium... I am usually the first person to bitch about AFC rivals. I have nothing negative to say about the Chiefs. They are a team with extraordinary talent, coaching, and a QB that will be in the NFL for decades to come. The Chiefs may have lost that game, but they will be winning MANY more games in the near future.
I would have to agree. I can't think of another team that has the potential (long term) that the Chiefs have. I hope the Patriots take advantage of this Super Bowl...it might be incredibly tough for us to get to another one after this year.
Oh my husband on Sunday. What a crazy game that was! He has the sad. Hopefully, this season has convinced some quality free agents to go play for KC next year. Reed has to give Mahomes a defense to support him. His heart sank during that long break while the refs reviewed Edelman's did he/didn't he touch the ball, drama, as it became more and more obvious he didn't touch the ball. Madness!
The Chiefs would have turned the game had it not been for the worst offsides I've ever seen. The Chiefs shot themselves in the foot there
Not one of their finer moments. Ah, well, my husband is over it, and we will be on a cruise to watch SB. Not the worse place to watch a match-up you didn't want to see. Should be a good game.
The Pats arrived in Atlanta on their own plane, in business suits. The Rams arrived on an American Airlines flight, in sweats.
We've seen a couple of playoff games while cruising, but never the SB. We're excited! It's also a great excuse to decline the numerous, "come to our house and watch," invitations.
Great to see Burkhead get the final two TDs in the game. Wonder why the Bengals wasted four years of his playing career on the bench??????
Bar owners here are going to play old playoff games. One said he is going to play the Auburn over Alabama game with the immaculate return on the last play. Yeah, I know, that's illegal but no one's going to call it.
