https://www.c-span.org/video/?460229-1/qa-harold-holzer-amity-shlaes We have mr Holzer the author of 55 books sitting with the author of 5 books, Amity Shlaes discussing presidents. Brian Lamb hosts the two authors. I find this very honest. You will hear a number of presidents discussed. A woman tried to make it about Trump but both authors said it is way too early to rank Trump. Holzer ranks Trump as the best all time communicator. This may shock some who assumed that is Obama but watch video of Obama using his pet toy, his Teleprompter vs Trump using no aids at all. Also note that it is the tweets used by Trump that annoys most of the media along with Democrats. This video is a rich rewarding 54 minutes. i believe all true history students shall enjoy all of this wonderful c span presentation.
The fact that your author places Trump above FDR and Reagan as the greatest communicator shows him to be a fraud.
Why didn't you watch the video? FDR lacked TV. But made excellent use of the Radio and news broadcasts then shown at the movies. The youth do not know or perhaps forgot that at one time, the movies were excellent sources of filmed news. Why do Democrats so rapidly attack sources?
Because "great communicator" means someone who effectively uses the English language to communicate. It's not a description of someone who spouts out verbal diarrhea and word salads that leave most people wondering just what the hell the dude was trying to say. Hence, your author is confusing the amount of crap put out with actual communication, so yes, your author is a fraud. And I'm not a Democrat, dearie.
I replayed the video where Holzer spoke of great communicators and change my remark to a master communicator for Trump as opposed to the best of all communicators. But if you play the last 7 minutes of the broadcast you will hear him speak highly of Trump as a communicator. I think what turns the eyes of Democrats a glowing bright red is they do not want anything called good about Trump.
You are not the best judge of this either darling. PS I added extra comments to my first OP that must be included with the OP. I apologize for saying he called Trump the best of all. But he called Trump a master communicator.
Here is what was said about Trump when discussing communications for various presidents. 00:51:24 THE IMPACT OF JOHN KENNEDY WAS GENERATIONAL. HE WAS THE MASTER OF TELEVISION, WHICH EISENHOWER HAD NOT BEEN, TRUMAN HAD NOT BEEN. LIKE FDR, LIKE LINCOLN, LIKE TRUMP, HE WAS THE MASTER OF A NEW FORM OF COMMUNICATING DIRECTLY WITH THE PEOPLE. HE INSPIRED PEOPLE TO PUBLIC SERVICE. TWO ELEMENTS I THINK THAT ENHANCE HIS REPUTATION ARE COMMUNICATIONS ABILITY, THE WIT AND THE WARMTH AND HUMOR, SELF-DEPRECATING ALSO, AND OF COURSE THE TRAGEDY OF HIS PASSING. PRESIDENTS WHO DIE IN OFFICE, WHO ARE TAKEN FROM US VIOLENTLY, HOLD A SPECIAL PLACE IN THE NATIONAL MEMORY. NOT ONLY FOR WHAT WAS ACCOMPLISHED, BUT ALMOST FOR WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN.
Reagan is this nations top all time ranked best president. FDR had the radio. Families were able to own radios. FDR focused on radio. I heard him talk on radio when I was a child. Reagan had a way with wit and charm to communicate. Trump shoots himself in the foot too often. FDR also was president in a truly terrible economy. Those who think what Obama had was bad should have suffered under FDR. Suffering under FDR was massive. The term Hobo is no longer used but Hobos were all over the place trying to find work. Believe it or not but homeless was a savage condition under FDR. Hobos could not drop in for welfare. Hobos had no unemployment checks. FDR only gave 30 radio addresses over the span of 11+ years. So less than 3 per year. President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered his first fireside chat, on the banking crisis, eight days after taking office (March 12, 1933). The fireside chats were a series of 30 evening radio addresses given by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt (known colloquially as "FDR") between 1933 and 1944. Type: 30 Presidential radio addresses Participants: Franklin D. Roosevelt Date: March 12, 1933 – June 12, 1944 Fireside chats - Wikipedia
I would agree to this also. My appreciation of President Reagan as "The Great Communicator" has only grown over the decades. Yes, he had teleprompters also. But he also had the remarkable ability to go completely off the cuff, at need. In fact, many of his most remembered moments were entirely spontaneous and unplanned. One of the most famous is from 1987, when he was giving a speech in West Berlin. During the speech a balloon popped, sounding a lot like gunfire. Without blinking an eye he paused for a moment, then simply said "Missed me." His speeches during his presidency are full of such moments. And it even predates his time as President. As Governor of California from 1969 to 1977 he had many similar occurrences. That was a time of great unrest on college campuses, and one of this famous moments was after a crowd at Berkley warned him of a bloodbath if he did not give in to their demands, he responded that they could start by taking a bath. And later that day a bunch silently blocked the sidewalk which led to the campus and lined both sides, trying to stare him down. He simply looked at them, tiptoed past with his finger to his lips saying "Shhhhh". Even his adversaries started to chuckle at that. And as he left the campus, the crowd started to chant at him "We are the future!" He wrote on a notepad and placed it against the window the note "I'll sell my bonds". He had the remarkable ability of making even host most staunch opponents respect him, because he showed them respect. He may not agree with various groups, but he never made that personal. A trait that no longer seems to exist in modern politics.
