" Experts said the situation was a “scandal we knew was coming” and that the government may have a case to answer in court." Jesus effing wept, can't we get anything right? Stand by for £zillions of compensation payouts. But hey, it's only taxpayers' money. Gawd I'm so depressed - think I'll make another donation of £50 to the Brexit Party, and hope this nightmare ends. https://www.theguardian.com/politic...european-election-polling-booths-admin-errors (thinks: wonder if I can get a compo payout from what's laughingly called 'a government' for making me depressed? Might be worth a try?? ) And now this: English test students may have been wrongly accused, says watchdog Home Office ‘did not have the expertise’ to check data used to accuse students of cheating. About 2,500 students have been forcibly removed from the UK after being accused of cheating in the exam and a further 7,200 left the country after being warned that they faced detention and removal if they stayed. Many have protested their innocence; 12,500 appeals have been heard in UK courts, and so far 3,600 people have won their appeals" Anyone else for compensation? Get in line please, you'll get it. It would be hilarious were it not so bloody insane. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...s-may-have-been-wrongly-accused-says-watchdog
....oh dear how sad what a shame....it must be so amazing to learn that we don't live in a perfect bureaucratic world. What's the old addage....shyte happens....
Without a doubt a scandal ... But I think it's also because the British were stunned by the fact of the Brexit standstill in Parliament about leave with deal or with no deal, ... "suddenly and totally unexpected" (attention, irony) EU parliamentary elections must be held in the UK... because Brits already wanted to be out of the EU since about 2 months! Only this does not excuse this total failure of the British bureaucracy and what happened here .... and can become indeed very expensive for the British taxpayer!
I seem to recall a similar thing... when moving from Eimsbüttel to Niendorf the Bezirksamt in Eimsbüttel managed to lose my file....apparently, according to the einwohnermeldeamt in Niendorf I didn't live in Eimsbüttel or indeed in Hamburg which was a bit of a puzzle for me since I did...slightly odd but then again these things happen... maybe I should have sued them..........anyway it was quickly, and I use that word in German bureacratic terms....relatively quickly sorted out
With this criticism of our German authorities, you earn most fuill understanding at me ... be sure ... These officials ... highly paid by the state, non-cancellable, sworn employees with pension entitlement from the state, where any employee in the free market economy can only be jealous ... are only competetnt and able for the "office tri-sport": - Make 2 holes with the punch in a document - stamping documents - file documents My colleague had now had its expensive fun with the Building Department. He had made an extension to his house and the building application was flawed. The building authority imposed a building freeze and demanded many new documents and reports ... and has left a lot of time with the processing ... over a year. At some point my colleague's questions became annoying to the official and he told him: "If you do not stop to ask, your file ends up in the bottom of the pile of files there and will be processed by me in 2-3 years earliest"! Unfortunately, he had threatened the wrong ... and when that became clear, it was suddenly very fast, as the officer was told by his boss and thier boss from his boss, that the file of my colleague has the highest priority!
....one at a time with a break in between..... They are...or at least were pretty useless critters...I guess from your post it hasn't changed much in the last 10 years. I'm in the process of trying to get my pension entitlement transferred from Germany to the UK....ein echter albtraum...
All politicians are useless; I mean let's face it - they're only once removed from bureaucrats, and as we all know, bureaucrats are only bureaucrats because they're too dumb to do anything else, especially anything productive: they rely on others to actually work so they can draw upon those workers' incomes (think 'taxation' and 'fines'?) in order that they can continue their parasitic lifestyles.
Just so you all know, the US doesn't have anywhere near as many bureaucrats as you have in Europe. The more things you want government to do for the people, the more bureaucrats there will be. All the endless rules and regulations in Western Europe don't help either. That requires more bureaucrats and paperwork too.
It's too late for us because we're already stricken by it, but make sure it stays that way in the US, because bureaucracy is the curse of any society; indeed, the curse of any country. Bureaucrats are the non-productive parasites of all societies.
I don't think Eastern Europe has it, but that's only because they can't afford it. Well that and they saw firsthand how bureaucracy worked under Communism. Eastern Europe is no picnic though, there's a lot of other things they can't afford and individual rights often get swept under the rug out of convenience. They don't have the money or resources to guarantee individual rights. At least they're not passing endless laws.
All of the above is why eastern European countries joined the EU. The EU hands over vast amounts of cash to poor countries. I mean, who wouldn't want to join a club where the other members give you loads of money? No-brainer or what??
True, but I think Germany also wanted tariff-free access to additional markets. Even though there may not really be a lot of consumers who can afford German cars in these countries. The wealthy few in these poorer countries will still always be buying German cars. So German taxpayers send money to other European countries, and then wealthier consumers in those countries send money back to German industries. Maybe that's why wealthy England wanted out, they're not really exporting much.
I thought I saw in the news about the issue of Brits abroad trying to vote but by the time their postal votes get here, they're be too late. It was to do with those that handle the voting process, instead of using the more reliable Royal Mail, they went with European postal services because of cost. Did the envelopes have NL on them, for Netherlands? Politicians are useless but I think the voting delay was down to cost cutting on the postage route. You get what you pay for.
