Oh no, not yet. That's going to require the weakening of the central state, which is struggling to transfer wealth inland. The victory of the capitalist class in China is going to come under the guise of democratic federalization.
Yes and I am not in disagreement. Please dont quote me out of context to angle shot a point with a few words. Its tacky at best. I hold your opinion in higher regard than that. Quote my post or at least the sentence or paragraph your inferring I clearly stated we would be a power for at least a 100 years. So not sure what your point is frankly
Understand what I mean by "my money is on the former." I don't think that we're going to just last into the end of this century. I suspect, though it's much too far out to have a meaningful opinion, that we will indeed be a "dynasty" as you mention. Because we're not "too polarized." If I put you in 495 B.C. Rome, why would your opinion be any different? If I put you in Spring and Autumn China, why would your opinion be any different? I think that the United States, and the variety of sub-nations that state represents, has been remarkably stable, and I suspect that trend will continue. Now, we are going into an interesting future, one where the dominance of two American political geographies, that of the American South and the American Northeast, are going to be facing a major contender for control of our state, the American Southwest. We may very well see the end of our state this century. But would this represent the end of our "dynasty?" I don't think so. We are not the United States of America, that's just our current encapsulation. I don't know if I'm making any sense.
Since you have a thought error ... it's not a decision "China or USA" ... It's about a decision "USA or free world". I know ... that sounds hard, but let's take a look at the realities: The US treated Russalnd after the end of the USSR like dirt and since Outin is in power, the Russia can no longer please ... promptly smokes it because again "evil Russkies". For decades, nobody in the US has been interested in the righties and lefities, as Chian economically ascends to great power ... and with what methods! And even now there is a hypocrisy on Trump's Trade War that just stinks! Trump does not even trust Apple, because without China, Apple would not be the giant they are, because every single one of their Made in China products is made at starvation wages and sold at a profit margin that's gigantic. If an Apple product costs $ 1,000 in the shop, you can expect it to cost Apple about $ 150 to manufacture, including shipping from China to the US! Trump can not do only these "Made in China" things ... nor the things that Ivanka Trump makes in China! The US is not only making old enemies new enemies ... no, they are also making friends and close allies to enemies like Europe and Canada!
Do the math ... many boomers weren't even old enough to vote in 1980 and this is the percentage of Boomers voting: Did they have influence? Sure.
I know that, and they were still the largest voting bloc! They were "influential" in the 60s. By the mid-80s they were hegemonic.
Gimme a break. You and @Mac-7 were talking about China, fer crissake. Egads, this is all over the place. Try again.
Disagree. - America is culturally and politically divided and Japan is not. Japan did not beat us. Japan is even more cohesive than China. I am old enough to remember talks how Japan very soon will beat US. If China will beat us, it will be because they invest more than us in educations and the welfare of all citizens.
Imperial Japan was a mouse trying to take on an elephant We had 3 times the population and 10 times the industrial base of Japan Just the opposite of the relationship between America and china Or where china plans to be in about 30 years
The chinese They make no secret of their ambition to be Number One in the world http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/bizchina/2015-04/09/content_20035493.htm
The US and Chinese economies have become heavily interdependent based on massive amounts of trade and loans. So China cannot beat America economically without harming their own economy. You and many Trump supporters seem to view trade in the same way that Marxists do. You don't seem to understand that trade only happens when both parties perceive some benefit. A trade is the classic example of a win-win situation in economics. So China isn't trying to "beat" us in the way that you mean it because the dynamic between our two countries isn't zero-sum. Both countries benefit greatly from each other's continued prosperity.
Only on paper. In reality, the US has received $400 billion worth of goods and services in exchange for that money. We give the Chinese pieces of paper and they give us all sorts of useful things in return. It's actually a good thing for Americans. It also makes goods and services much more affordable for the majority of the country. So why should the majority of the country be forced to subsidize manufacturing jobs by paying higher prices? How is it pro-American to make things less affordable for the majority of Americans?
Actually the Bible says that the World power will move from west to East. We cannot let thaT happen. We have already let the East buy huge amounts of property in our Country. We have let China manufacture components of a generic drugs. We have let them take advantage of trade and tariffs. Still the Do nothing Democrats. Do nothing. It wasn't better under Paul Ryan. Trump is the closest thing we have had to a moderate. If the Dems would work with him much could be accomplished. I will do all I can to make sure he is reelected.
