After the 6.4 earlier this week, now a 7.0 earthquake shakes California. Looking forward to Cali forum members to tell what was it like.
They are going to tell you how great it is and how uneducated people dont have to deal with such earthquakes and how jealous we are.
I, like most, tend to laugh at, and make fun of, the loons in CA but we do need to keep in mind that these are human beings and that the Big One is going to kill a lot of folks. Good, bad, legal, illegal, drug addicted and mental cases a LOT are going to die. God help CA when it happens.
I lived in So Cal for 21 years and experienced my share of earthquakes - yes, I am an earthquake survivor and that somehow means I have extra rights. Ok, enough with the jokes. There's nothing like not being home when an earthquake hits, all you can do is wonder if everything and everyone in the house is OK. While my house was not damaged, a lot of things fell off shelves and broke when those quakes hit. Another thing, the cats I had at the time went nuts right before the quakes. Somehow they knew they were coming.
Are there reparations for earthquake victims? The state of California pays generous benefits, there may be some kind of fund set up. I'm still searching for my victim status. There's money out there for me somewhere and I'm going to get it.
Depends, i was in Chile 2016 and during a hike we had a earthquake. It was such a cool and awesome experience. In Germany we never have such things and it was totally alien for me. I think its harmless when you are outside.
Both the 6.4 and 7.1 quakes were a long and rolling shake for 20-30 seconds followed by stiff jarring. I was listening to the cal tech press conference yesterday live, and mid way through it the earthquake sensors went off again, and the woman said "we should feel that down here in 10-15 seconds", and sure enough it hit. The triggering even for these quakes appears to be the 4th of July.
GOD! is punishing California for being such a Liberal Shithole. Repent! and become Republicans or Hell! is going to open up and swallow you.
What was the first thing Governor Newsom did we he felt the earthquake in Sacramento ? He called President Trump pleading for help from the Trump administration. So funny, the totalitarian state of California who is in a state or rebellion against the federal government and the Constitution are now crapping in their PC diapers and want the Trump administration to come to California. Last night on KFI they scared the crap out of tens of million of listeners when they pointed out look at who the Governor is of California is and who's the mayor of L.A. is, both are liberal hate America loons and Democrats have a long track history of not being able to deal with natural disasters and the looting and anarchy that follows when Democrats are in control. Remember Hurricane Katrina and New Orleans or the 1992 riots in L.A. when Democrats government failed ? I was about 120 miles south of Ridgecrest when the 7.1 hit yesterday evening. I gave it a C (+) and I bet it was a D ticket in Ridgecrest. The "Big One" will definitely be an E ticket.
I'm not far away from Kern County, and it's been a very unnerving past few days. The earthquake on the 4th was a rolling one, and then the one yesterday felt a bit more powerful. That one REALLY spooked the cats. What was worse were all the aftershocks we had yesterday after the 7.1 quake. They went on forever. I've been feeling them this morning too - but the thing is, my nerves are so shot who knows? Good thing I have earthquake insurance though - hope I survive to use it!
That's why it hit one of the more remote areas of the State... Sounds like no problem. If this had hit a red state, the place would be leveled.
Pressure waves arrive before the shaking starts. I've been in two big ones and many in the 6.5 and down range. The biggest one took down the I-5 and Olive View Hospital. And there was a real danger of a major dam failure for days.
Imagine a quake knocking out power for 3 days in California. No A/C, cell phones dead, refrigerator not working, maybe water isn't flowing. California would be a war zone soon enough. Never mind the crap infrastructure here.
Last night someone pointed out before pointing out who the Governor was and who runs L.A. County, that the Owens Lake and the California Aqueduct runs through the Ridgecrest area that supplies about 1/3 of the water for the Capitol of the Third World (L.A.) No electrical power, no water. If the 7.1 earthquake epicenter were have been in L.A. what L.A. would look like today would be the 1992 L.A. riots. When local government failed, those dependent on government become animals and anarchy follows, looting, arson, murder and as CNN would report, cannibalism too.. It happened in L.A. in 1992 and it happened in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Those who have the government monkey on their backs become animals when the government failes.
Sounds like a good reason to be armed. Im sure some will go to the gun store, only to find they have to wait 10 days for a background check. Meanwhile the illegals and gangsters are armed to the teeth, some of them have thirsty/hungry kids back at the shack. West LA will become culturally enriched.
