This needs to be labelled as domestic terrorism, which it is, in order that the federal government can get involved. It's no different than the Islamist murdering those people in the Florida nightclub or the bombing of a disco in Manchester or murdering the vacationers in Bali. Once these young fools are recognized as terrorists, not as some half wit rebel announcing his opinion on society, can this trend hope to change.

 

We forget about pollution because there are so many ways we are killing true consciousness. There are people who see the truth of cause and effect who do worry about outcomes. I'm not sure Antifa could be labeled as terrorist yet because no one, so far, has been killed. There are photos where's they're reported to have heavy duty weapons but I'm not sure this is so. I've no use at all for these scumbags but we may have to go easy on the terrorist label because of possible long term consequences where the term can be thrown around fr political purposes (Think of Democrats with that power!)

The human species has been killing itself in large numbers since the dawn of the species coming into existence, long before firearms or purpose-made weapons ever existed. That killing is continuing to this very day in every country and every nation of the world. It is a problem with the species itself, not any individual culture.

Comprehensive immigration reform , the humanitarian treatment of legitimate asylum seekers, and a regional coalition to deal with the need of terrorized families to flee their homes are all desperately needed, and neither Democrats nor the RINOs of Trumpery have honestly confronted those realities.

Even Fake Don's "big, beautiful wall!" that he promised Mexico would pay for, after two full years of GOP control of both Senate and House, has evidenced a single mile of construction, even with the American taxpayer forced to pay for Fake Don's boondoggle.

Years ago they discovered that when newspapers published stories of people jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge the number of jumpers would sharply increase for a while - so they stopped publishing these stories. That's something like what's happening here, but there's no way to hide a shooting where large groups of people die.. They gave it a very good try in Las Vegas though.

Trump is on the right track that this is a mental health issue so we'll see what comes of that.

 

I never discount crime no matter who commits it. Please cite where I’ve ever discounted crimes based on race. And I do work for a non profit on and off that deals with rough kids. Crime. Jail. Drugs. Gangs. 100s of hours of interviews for documentaries. I’m quite well versed in their situations. When placed in positive environments many are really good kids and turn their lives around. Others last a few weeks and go right back to drugs, gangs, etc. Sad stories but many are just broken.

It’s a circular cultural problem. Lousy “families” generally breed lousy kids who create more lousy kids who create more broken homes...and on and on we go. It’s mostly about irresponsible people who can barely take care of themselves trying to take care of others. Recipe for disaster. As to where it started...certain policies were enacted that replaced the father with a govt paycheck. All went down hill from there.

 

A more constructive approach would ultimately be for the media to stop providing coverage relating to the perpetrator of the mass shooter. No mentioning of their names, no releasing of their photographs, no covering their life histories, no release of any manifestos, none of it. Note the number of victims and their names, but treat the mass shooter as if they do not exist. That way they are not given fame or recognition, and instead are forgotten about. There would be no incentive for copycat incidents if such were done.

 

I may be wrong but believe there was an attempt at that but the media would never cooperate. It's too tough a secret to keep.

I'd make it a point though to publicly state repeatedly what disgusting vermin these shooters are, that they are pieces of crap, and so on. I don't think enough disgust is being expressed at the shooters. Rather the politicians, or the more ignorant in society, will blame the country, guns, the President - anybody and anything but the shooters themselves.
