And after all of that, this much is still true: the issue is tyranny vs liberty—the CPC wants to extents tyranny, Hong Kong wants to keep its liberty. And China is the one that has to back done to save its moral face.
I stay that the whole question of tyrany and liberty is pretty much a Swifts question of Little-endians and Big-endians. The actual drivers of world policy are the people and their beliefs and values. A value of liberty is artificial in its essense and is fading in world policy being corrupted and devalued. In what is happening in China primarily the western countries need to remove its intervention from the information field of protests. For the sake of lives of the humans. Though I still believe that it won't happen, because the people of the US will never be able to demand this from their government for those who understand the reality prefer the lies and the money and those who doesn't - prefer to stay with the official propaganda to be on the good side.
Liberty— Moral government protects; tyranny—Immoral government oversees. It’s not a matter of people’s prejudices, opinions, biases, delusions, illusions, or esoteric philosophies. It IS, period. Objectively.
That's just nuts. This started when the Chinese govt. decided it was time to bring HK under their control. Free people around the world will be rooting for HK but it has always been a powder keg. I don't think it will end well for HK but China is not going to be able to blame foreign interference for the mess they have made.
Please remind me the exact law which was perceived as 'bringing under control'. What was said there? They have already done so. It was just not on your news.
If China and US agree on trade issues, at least temporarily these protests will be finished. If China continues to bargain - the protests will get more violent. I am ready to bet.
A grim reminder what’s at stake—your liberty and your life. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/aug/27/australian-writer-yang-hengjun-charged-spying-china
For now China and US are negotiating and what happens with the protests? Once we see in the news that China doesn't meet the expectations of the USA the protests will get more violent. Just have a patience and observe. If it is so it might be a coincidence, but I see the derivation of protests from this trade war. If not a trade war - no Hong Konger would go to the streets protecting the right of prosecuted criminals to be handed to continental China. They wouldn't read about how dangerous it is for the freedom of speech, they would never learn that they must go to this protest, they wouln't get the information where to go and what to do. These protests are artificial and have nothing to do with 'freedom of speech'. On the contrary, the control over the news from Department of State is the main tool to create these protests. It doesn't say that US is a bad guy. It just says that US uses this intervention into policy of other state as a weapon.
According to the Hong Kong protestors themselves the new law amounts ro kidnapping individuals and taking them to a communist dictatorship for a kangaroo court trial
Which is wrong, because the law was about the already convicted by regional court criminals. We have to remember that Hong Kong is no longer a colony and is an integrated part of China.
The best and the brightest demand liberty—the right to live their own lives for their own sake, and the right to freely choose their political leaders. They are reminding the world that the State exists to protect the rights of the individual, not to force those individuals to serve the State in the name of collectivism. They are showing the world in real time the true nature of CPC, the oppression of independent thought. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cn...ng-airport-protest-sept-1-hnk-intl/index.html The Revolution is on, China will crush it, Trump will approve of China’s brutal and bloody suppression of Liberty, and the idealists will be silenced, smothered, slaughtered. The West will acquiesce. To the independent minds in Hong Kong, get out—if you value the sacredness of your own existence, leave the barren rock for the vultures, and go where you can be free to flourish. Go now.
Right wingers need to demand that the government crack down on these terroristic anarchists who are creating violence and harm to that society. Since these deluded conservatives felt that way about Antifa and BLM they should be saying the same thing about Hong Kong criminals who defy the police there. Let's see forum righties say those exact same words.
Ah, the difference is: ANTIFA fights for tyranny, while Hong Kong's best and brightest are defying that very tyranny. Odd, you don't get that as a human being, but then again...?
right by block airport, vandalizing subway etc. not helping their cause at all. when it was peaceful at least there were some outside support, not everybody back away
vandalism is vandalism doesn't matter what cause. i was supporting them while it was peaceful, now i dont care about them at all due to their recent behaviors.
The brave protesters in Hong Kong are fighting for the preservation of the rule of law against the threat of absorption into lawless Chinese authoritarianism.
what rule of law all i can see is breaking public and private property and blocking airport. a perfect excuse for CCP to move in.
Hong Kong has never lived under Communist Tyranny, they were governed (not ruled) by Great Britain. China, under emperor for life, XI is violating the Sino-British Joint Declaration, signed in 1984 allowing Hong Kong to enjoy a high degree of autonomy for 50 years after the handover in 1997. The reason for the anger in Hong Kong is that their basic freedoms are under attack. The joint declaration between Hong Kong and China said that Hong Kong "will enjoy a high degree of autonomy, except in foreign and defence affairs", and would have its own judicial, executive and legislative systems. Pre-1997 laws would "remain basically unchanged", and the locals would make up the city's leadership structure. It would also have an independent trade, finance and Customs status, and there would be "free flow of capital" - unlike on the mainland. Private property and foreign investments would have legal protection. The declaration stated explicitly that the "social and economic systems in Hong Kong will remain unchanged", and rights will be guaranteed. These included freedoms of speech, the press, of assembly and association, of strike, and of academic research and religion. Xi's Chinese government is encroaching on the freedoms enshrined in the handover agreement by interpreting Hong Kong's Constitution - the Basic Law - to muzzle criticism and keep opponents out of the city's legislature. Millions are marching to oppose a proposed law that would allow extraditions to the mainland rather than trial by Jury in Hong Kong. Though the 1984 declaration was registered with the United Nations as a treaty, Beijing now says that is not binding. I suspect that if the People of Hong Kong do not want to live under Socialist Tyranny, that they will have to flee.
SOCIALISM IN ACTION Violence continues in Hong Kong, as the Communist government continues to suppress popular demonstrations against Hong Kong’s loss of independence and freedom. This video gives a graphic sense of what is going on–a police riot. It is hard to disagree with Kyle Kashuv’s observation: “This is what real fascism looks like–the Communist Party of China.” Kyle Kashuv ✔@KyleKashuv Dear Antifa, This is what real fascism looks like — the Communist Party of China. 12:30 AM - Sep 1, 2019 https://twitter.com/KyleKashuv/status/1168063635941277696
lol name few laws thats has changed which jeopardize their basic right that wasn't same under UK rules? under 156 years of brit rule, did brit even discuss democratic election at all? or universal suffrage. did china change HK currency or fiance system compare to how brit run it, nope. though i agree on peaceful protest, but whats the purpose of vandalizing public and private properties, all those are pay by tax payer money. furthermore whats the point of block airport/sub way station? do they honestly think the ppl travel there will support that? do they think china care about them destroying their own cities? they can achieve more if done peacefully, but doing violently, not even UK gonna support that. it give China an excuse to move in with troop. The best way for them is migrant to other countries, but with Trump/Boris i doubt they let them into US/UK.
dude looking closely those are HK police, if CCP send in troops, there is no way the protest will get away. they can destroy their own city, company will just move to shenzhen and elsewhere. vandalism in any country, police will start arresting the culprits.
