My favourite is Rebecca Long-Bailey. Apparently she is very popular with the Labour party members and being as shallow as ditch water, would be guaranteed to lead the brothers and sisters into the glorious defeats that they love so well How about you guys?
Hilary Benn. A pro-remain centrist who can unite the party and bring it back to the middle. The middle is where Labour can defeat the Tories from. Blair's majority dwarfed those of Boris or Maggie. Thatcher's largest majority was 102 Boris has one of 80 New Labour won a majority of 179 If the left of the party wins out in the leadership contest we are doomed to Tory rule for decades.
A happy thought but sadly unlikely. Even the Labour party has periodic outbreaks of commonsense. The next leader will promise Momentum whatever rubbish is is required to get the votes of its numbnuts followers, but then wrapped himself in a Union Jack when he starts chasing the electorate at large.
I believe centrists are finished. England, the UK while it is a UK will either move to the kind of social democracy we had before Thatcher - but different as it is a different time with different needs or we will move to the extreme Right. The extreme right seem to be the preferred option for England.
No, I disagree. The Tory support from pro-Brexit, Labour voters is temporary. Only a centrist Labour party can win a majority over the Tories though. The last true Socialist government was in 1979. Britain does not want to return to the winter of discontent.
Good idea. A divisive figure rather than a uniter and inclined to bottle out when things got tough. He should not cause Boris any problems.
When everyone else goes off to their "safe space" for fear of offending or lacking acess to the 'old boy' playing field it is sometimes best for a head-basher to step in and get the job done particularly when he's got a good idea for reform and the codgers have turned a deaf ear.
You do realise that most of what was in the papers then was as untrue as the stuff the media wrote about Corbyn? It will be the far right. It is a choice between them and the left and most 'centrists' prefer the hard right. Scotland will leave you to it. We have not developed in this way. We will leave you to it while obviously working with any in England needing help.
Scotland is pro both the union and the EU. So Boris' idea will be to get the UK out of the EU with the minimum of fuss. Then, once the Scots notice that the sky has not fallen in they may well return to their traditional loyalties and return a few more Conservative and Labour party MPs to Westminster. The Labour party's problem is that it has a membership that sniggers when the old flag goes by and an electorate that is quietly patriotic. The new leader should be the one that squares the circle, but I can't see who that will be.
I am not sure about that. The Tories went into the last election waving the Union Jack and the Labour party the Red Flag with the result that a lot of Labour voters held their noses and voted for Boris.
They voted Tory over Brexit. Many for nationalistic reasons. Many patriots think that the UK's best interests lie in remaining in the EU.
