China hints at denying Americans life-saving coronavirus drugs

Starting a trade war is an attack on the economy of the foreign country. Trump wanted to bring down China's GDP. He managed to do that, but the virus managed to do it much better. Who would have thought.

 

What do you call Chinas decades of Tariffs on our products? Can you just let Krugman and his crew go and just possibly think about it in a different way?

 

Sounds like we need to stop depending on sweat shops in China and start manufacturing in the US. It's that simple.

Nobody could have predicted coronavirus or its global impact. It is idiotic to suggest we should have continued forever bowing to China "in case" we were ever in this position. If that were the case, we should have started moving the production of essential supplies out of China "in case" instead.

We've also been in this position ---- with China making so much of our "stuff" ---- since long before Trump, so any hyper partisans who want to try to pin this on Trump alone can go pound sand, you don't even merit a response.

I don't care which political party you support, we should not be relying on China (or anyone else but ourselves) for critical supplies.

 

Your right they attacked our economy by having stupid one-sided tariffs, stealing technology and in some cases not even allowing us to sell goods to them. They started this and previous Presidents did zilch about it. Do you really think it's a good thing they make our drugs? Do you really think it's ok for them to steal our technology? Do you really think leveling the tariffs is somehow a bad thing. They didn't, they signed the first 2 stages of the deal and instead of you saying dang Trump stood up and at minimum are getting some leveling, your back on the dumb trade war won't work even though it did. If you think that's a personal attack sorry but it's an illogical stance at best but more than likely partisan conjecture is damaging your logic.

 

Isn't it always claimed that America is exceptional? And now China has us by the balls? That seems mutually exclusive. Shouldn't America be able to come up with its own test kits and medicines, if we are exceptional? Oh, I forgot, the offshoring to China was driven by greed of the US corporations. who'd happily trade a few more bucks in profit in exchange of making us dependent on Chinese labor. I'm sure the corporate billionaires will have no trouble to get access to test kits, antivirals and ventilators. You and me, not so much.

That being said my crowd has tried to educate people on this issue of having the vast majority of our supply chain in a country like China.. If enemy is to harsh a word for you try not an ally if it makes you feel better.

Something as simple as pointing out the vast majority of our medicine is made elsewhere has had me called "Racist, Bigot, Xenophobic and my favorite an Isolationist." mostly by people that constantly take the "moral" ground of being "educated" and push their opinions as factual due to such "education" meanwhile they show this "education" by doing nothing but using talking points ( Trade War) or attacking people's basic intelligence.

 

LOL... recognizing that China might have our country by the balls (and be willing to squeeze due to Trump's actions) is being "on China's side" now...
