I think this has started as a joke but it's escalating pretty quickly and getting quite malitious. It's mostly aimed at white women but nobody is really safe. Although it's mostly used in jest it's also being used to maliciously silence women that are usualy distressed about a certain situation they are currently in. Its being used to humiliate women and turn their upset into a joke. I don't really find the term acceptable. I will probably get called a Karen for making this thread lol.
Can I assume that you hold this same stance for men, particularly black men, named Tom who have nieces and/or nephews?
It's an internet meme, not the end of the world, no need to overreact or demand to speak to the manger. lol
Probably lol... It's an Internet meme that really started off mocking this haircut (as seen in the GIF) and it took off...it's funny! It's meant to make people laugh, you know taking a joke, having a sense of humor...people need to lighten up and take a joke. Btw they also have memes and jokes about men named Kyle...
I'd say they are insecure and have a chip on their shoulders and are being used and manipulated as political pawns. Karen's just think everything rotates around them. So maybe a bit
I'm not convinced it's generally malicious nor do I think it is aimed at or even inadvertently targets all women (that is, after all, kind of the point of the specific label). It's also typically about how someone is reacting to something rather than the fact they are at all (though sometimes it's legitimately both). It's not especially constructive and it almost certainly gets taken too far but I don't think it's as bad as you're presenting it as.
Yeah the uncle tom thing is really bad. It's there to bring others down and an attempt prevent to discourage others rising above.
I'm on the fence about the Karen thing. It's pretty funny but on the other hand it's a way of putting complaining women down. Kinda like a push back against women because they have become stroppy Karen's.
A Karen is usually a complaining entitled racist white woman and it's been said we could call the male version Tucker.
I've seen plenty of black and asian Karens, but they usually limit themselves to retail endevors. White Karens tend to be more diversified. Also I heard the male version was a Kevin
The black version of a Karen is a Karenisha, and their behavior is similar to a Karen's, but it involves fists and fast food thrown at clerks and cashiers as well as sassy words.
Yeah but Tucker Carlson is someone they can all aspire to. That's not racist enough, how about throwing a CaNesha fit?
How the hell is that racist anymore than "Karen"? At most, it's a stereotype and most stereotypes have some truth to them.
Karen refers to an entitled bratty person who acts in character if something doesn't go their way. Of course is the meme gets used it's identity will change. and eventually it will be used to me anyone who doesn't agree with you. That's why memes have such a quick approaching expiration date.
The left can't meme. So they appropriate the memes of other people. Saying something is racist this how they get people to quit making fun of them.
Well Karen is actually based on a real person. I would say a male Karen is a David. https://medium.com/med-daily/dont-be-david-leavitt-e8ebcd32fbea This dude called the police on a Target employee because he took a display of a $60 toothbrush that was Mark for one penny and only wanted to pay one penny for it. This is absolutely Karen Behavior.
