Hell no! not in this day and age. I think technology and mass communication has made it so that only those who truly love power would put themselves through the BS that it takes to become a high level politician. I think that is why we have such shitty choices now in our elections. There is no way in hell I would put myself or my family through that. A century ago I would have considered it.

 

Since I don't believe any of my proposed Amendments will ever be incorporated into the Constitution and the Constitution has been perverted by all 3 branches, especially by the unelected black robed lawyers, it's long overdue. Read my signature as quoted from our founding document.

 

Like Josh said, in the current environment only a fool would subject themselves and their family to running for political office.

I believe this is one of the reasons why we've seen a massive deterioration in the quality of candidates. Only a truly dedicated Patriot would be willing to screw up what is probably a pretty good life. I wish there were more out there but I understand why those likely most qualified would say "hell no"

I think we would have been ahead of the game had not the current POTUS been occupied with an attempted Coup for almost 3 years. With the corruption in the unelected bureaucracy this Nation will never get back to it's original design with a politician in leadership.

Trump is the Revolution... The voters removed the status quo in 2016.

And now the Elites want their power monopoly back... BLM and ANTIFA are just paid mercenaries. (Kind of like modern day Hessians)

After the election, the Elites will abandon them and give them nothing.

Interesting question, but Plutarch is wrong. Republics and democracies fall apart after citizens realize that the government will provide for them and they become more and more complacent.

 

It may no longer be possible for anti-establishment reform candidates to run as Republicans or Democrats.
It might be possible for an outsiders to win if they could offer a concise irresistible change agenda on social media. It would have to be an offer too sweet for most voters to reject.

imo Plutarch had a bona fide piece of the causes. He would have observed that the lives of the elite Romans and the lower class Romans were different with a very wide spread. Of course, that's universal when humans live under big governments. imo the spread can only get so wide in a democratic country. The spread can be extremely wide in a Communist country without revolt because the lower classes are totally repressed with any means of revolt confiscated from them.

 

True, there was a large spread between the elite rich and the common citizen of Rome, but that is not why Rome fell apart. A Roman citizen was very well protected and then became very well provided for and became very complacent. But the elite also started getting comfortable with their power, wealth and magnificence and they too got complacent resting on their laurels. Everyone, rich and poor alike, gave up on doing the hard work required of a successful strong State, and that is why they fell apart.
