Where are you guys getting your ammo?
M193 still more or less available, but I haven't had much luck with M855 or x51.

Well, no luck here either. I keep at least 1000 rounds on hand of everything I use, so I haven't been shopping lately. I guess the current "socio-political atmosphere" has lots of people stocking up.

You can buy Federal 7.62 x 51 at Wallyworld, but not .223 / 5.56. WTH??? I'm done with Wallyworld anyway.

We were going to do some testing last week and could not find any 77 grain 5.56 for the 1 x 8 barrel twist rate. It couldn't be found anywhere. I got 200 bullets out the last remaining 1400 bullets from Sierra and now have to find someone to load it. All the usual sources from ammoseek to Midway were out of stock on virtually anything 5.56 / /223. People on the Internet are trying to double the retail price much like .22 caliber was when Obama was in office.

If you have an AK or SKS, stock up on ammo now. It's like $250 per 1000. Forget 5.56 / 223.

@TOG 6 When I want ammo, I use AmmoSeek. Easy to use search engine, and results are listed by cheapest to most expensive.

I use it too, but it is not always - I take that back, it is rarely the big deal we think it is. I've found ammo cheaper and in stock locally a few times - a couple of times at Academy Sports. It's a good site if other sources don't pan out. But don't let it be your only source.

I'm a big fan of 308... 223 not so much. But I broke down and bought an AR-15 recently just in case the coming chaos makes 308 difficult to find.

    Grew up with a .22
Joined the army, and loved the 7.62mm then the SLR A1 change to the Styer Aug 5.56mm. Wasn't as impressive as the 7.62
As a civvie, I like the .243 and .270 good balanced calibres. IMO

Are you guys familiar with self-fulfilling prophesies?

You worry about the availability of ammo, so you buy up all the ammo you can find, which adds to shortage of ammo ...
    Catch .22, indeed.

LOL! Yeah, the gun industry is making fools of the gun nuts. Every time a Democrat gets elected they make a fortune. Hell idiots like Alex Jones are probably on the payroll for a gun company somewhere.

Not me. I've gone old school. Gone with a bow. If you don't break or lose your arrows, you can always use them again. (I'm talking hunting/survival). Booby traps and the weapons brought over by the party crashers are what I'll use as defence arsenal. :boxing:

A David or Shepherd sling is a great thing to practice with.... You can throw a 3 oz projectile at 100 miles an hour.

At ranges of 100 foot a fair degree of accuracy can be obtained. A 3 oz egg Rock at 100 ft probably still traveling 90 miles an hour will do a lot of damage.

Ranges well in excess of 100 yd are easily doable for an intermediate slinger.

But I find practicing to be able to hit a refrigerator at 100 ft with a sidearm fairly flat release to be the most practical use

That's cool. In my teens, I had braced slingshot. Hand spear rubber was used as the elastics. I used 8-10mm lead sinkers for game, rats/mice/birds. Glass marbles for cats that would hassle the birds in an aviary, and steel 6-8mm BBs for plinking. The slingshots became illegal, that stop me....,Ahh, times were good back in the day.:D

Because Democrats regularly promise their constituents they will enact some sort of ban on guns.
    Are they lying?

With 30,000 rounds of 5.56 and 15,000 rounds of x51, I'm good for now.
I could use some more 10mm and 44M.

I only buy LEO and NATO calibers. Stuff like 243 and .270 may dry up. As long as there are Soldiers and cops we'll have NATO and LEO.

I never buy common calibers at such times. Buy it when it’s cheap and plentiful. I’ve been tempted to sell a bunch but it’s not worth the hassle. I have tons of 5.7 I paid $0.20/rd for. It was well over $1.00/rd and mostly unavailable this last go round.

After 20 years, and the only anti-gun legislation being the bump-stock ban signed by Trump - what do you think?

I think if you don’t know the difference between an executive action and legislation you could be fooled by about anything involving firearms and politics. Just my opinion.

As was posted, what gun bans have been enacted in the last 20 yrs?
Even when Obama had total control of a 3 branches, which bans were enacted.
And as was said, the only infringement in the last 20 yrs was by 2x impeached president.

Yes, by a President. Not the legislature. There was no bill. No vote. No signing of any bill.

All very unconstitutional regardless of how many times anyone was impeached. My point is we shouldn’t blame congress for that one. It was all Trump.

Why don't you rephrase that to the total number of infringements on the second such as magazine limits and so on and so forth..... And May issue States and districts.

So Trump banned bump stocks. You lefties are all about some gun bans and infringement and regulations so you should actually be applauding him for that.

It just goes to show that even when he did something that you would agree with that you would never give him any sort of credit
