Per month, not per day, in the US. More people were dying from the virus per month.

those weren’t the guidelines. One of the major ones the NY Govt ignored was dealing with retirement homes.

Folks in Fl are dealing with young out of state visitors (likely from NJ and NY)

Oh yes, they were "guidelines" coming straight out of the mouth of the most powerful man in the world. Retirement Homes, where I kept hearing about, from people like you, housed old people who were going to die anyway so were not important? Perhaps you can post this guideline that came from the President about retirement homes?

"Young Out of state visitors" visiting Disneyland and the like, going against all advice about opening up too soon?

nope that was no his guidelines.

That could be a problem in Cali..where disneyland is...but not Fl where disney world.

As we have seen many people...especially from NYC ignore social distancing...and to be fair i haven’t heard of an issue at Disney at all

th e issues in Fl are primarily at places like Miami Dade area

Still waiting for you to post Trump's guideline on retirement homes that you stated "NY Govt ignored", where you wrote "failed to follow rhe president’s guidelines"........
Irrelevant but thanks for highlighting the difference- Disneyland is currently closed. Disneyworld is open to all those "Young Out of state visitors"
Trump and his supporters are in favour of not having any lockdown so again irrelevance of whatever location

Nah - it would be called a liberal plot, fake news, fake doctor, lying liars .... anything to avoid admitting that COVID is real.

    Concur.

Just a brief word on this thread... Yesterday it was moved to the COVID forum from the Current Events forum. Naturally, you can make a case that it's COVID related, but I still believe that the National Security Advisor getting COVID is as much (if not more) Current Events news as it is COVID news...

If you have an idea for how to mitigate cardiovascular disease, obesity, and diabetes with regard to COVID that is something other than wearing a mask, washing your hands, and distancing, every doctor on earth would love to hear it. The truth is that there is no way to mitigate those comorbities quickly in the people that suffer from them.

CLEARLY you've never been on a converted COVID ward, spent any time in a COVID transport, or put your hands on a coding COVID patient. None of us would ever say anything as obtuse and callous as what you're saying. Are you willing to preemptively forgo care since it isn't a big deal?

I totally agree. The observations you make are simple, true, and very difficult to implement for many people in our country for reasons that clearly you understand and are probably suited for another thread! I hope you personally have a great day today. Go find your way into something good!

    Math? Science?

How about the Infection Fatality Rate of .65?

Does that count, or would you prefer to ignore it?

A half-million dead worldwide. Sounds not so harmless, eh?

I wish Coronavirus does catch the Donald and give him a hard time in hospital.
But he should survive so the American people can convict and punish him. :(

there was a lot the rest of the worlds had to learn quickly, due to the chinese lying and hiding intel. We have learned quit a bit to make it relatively harmless since, how to prevent, how to not do what they did in NY to protect the older folks, etc

    i don’t wish illness on anyone...any illness.

We all know what helps. Keep distance, wear a face mask, and wash your hands often. That helped a lot during the Spanish Flu pandemic. And it will help today.

The real problem are those who downplay the Coronavirus. For example mother****ers like Donald Trump. :(

he’s only followed what was being reported by experts and tried to keep people to follow the guidelines

Obviously not. He distrusts science and experts. He believes conspiracy theorists like the Q-Anon folks.

what are you talking about? he’s had some of the best experts in the world on this went above and beyond giving them a platform and echoed their points and guidelines. Birx and Fauci haven’t always been right but i believe did the best they could with what they knew...in real time

LOL. We’ve known the comorbitities for months. You can make a huge impact on these comorbidities in 30 days. You’ve had at least 90 days to make a change. “But it’s hard” is a pathetic excuse.

We could have snuffed the pandemic in this country in 6 weeks if everyone would have been prepared for a pandemic in February. We weren’t prepared because being prepared wasn’t easy or convenient so we live with the consequences. Most of us could improve our health and comorbidity status but it’s “hard or takes time” so we live with the consequences.

Now is the time to put our big boy pants on and deal with the realities our past laziness created. This is the danger of relying on government and healthcare providers to mitigate or eliminate the consequences of our personal choices. Whether it’s C19 or being fat (in this case both I guess) it’s always easy to get yourself in a pickle and expect someone else to get you out. The problem is government and healthcare providers aren’t knowledgeable and/or competent enough to cover for years of bad personal choices. That’s just the way it is. Crying about personal responsibility being hard won’t change anything. :)

Maybe he does, but in the same second, he disagrees.
Trump is a master of trickery.
He's no longer interested in Coronavirus. He gave up the fight.
Many more Americans will die because of him. :(
