Biden is supposed to hold a Hispanic Heritage rally or event today in Kissimmee, FL to appeal to the Latino voter market. It was to start an hour ago but he hasn't shown up yet. Hopefully he's all right. Here's a live link:
I don't see any teleprompters. Did the campaign forget to put them on the bus? Maybe Joe is afraid to come out. They just put a notebook on one of the two lecterns.
What do you bring to an event like this, hot sauce was for Hillary to pander to blacks, right? Maybe he'll tell them he's got salsa in his purse. If he tries ass kissing in Spanish there should be some epic flubs. Yo quiero, you know the thing, Taco Bell!!! Don't sniff any chicas Joe, their hombres might not like that.
The room is empty. Trump held a Hispanic round table yesterday (and one the day before) with business owners. When he was speaking, there was a lot of cheers and applause from the audience. Joe should have at least invited however many people who could be "socially distanced" so the room doesn't sound so hollow and empty.
Oh good. Looks like someone found the teleprompter. He's starting 1.5 hours late, but without an audience, I guess it doesn't matter.
Keeping him properly medicated so that he can function in public is a tricky thing. I am sure that they don't always get the timing right with the dossage. He's bound to miss the event schedule from time to time.
I was getting worried. This was supposed to start at 6:30 EST. Trump is usually 30 minutes late, sometimes longer, but he's also busy being president and racking up Nobel Peace Prize nominations and other Executive Office "stuff". Outside of his campaigning, Joe is technically unemployed, so how many excuses can he have for being an hour and a half late? Did the event interfere with nap time?
Wow. 16 minutes? He's an hour and a half late to read a teleprompted script to a nearly empty room for 16 minutes? Low energy. Short. Bland. He could have just taped that and aired it at the time it was scheduled.
This is pretty funny though. The camera panned out to the room after the script reading, showing the half dozen chairs spaced out where the floor is taped off for distancing. As soon as Joe leaves, people gather in the center of the room to talk.
Admittedly, he could have had a better turnout. I still believe he will ramp up for the debates. I am so torn this election year.
Compare that to Trump's Latino Roundtable yesterday in Arizona. Live audience. Trump had a panel of citizen business owners instead of Joe's rich Hollywood actress and musician donors. Trump let each person on the panel talk. That's so much more personal and interesting. Video does start about 30-34 minutes before Trump arrives.
I got the impression that everyone in attendance was either press or campaign staff. No citizens invited.
The Democratic Convention was similar. A lot of wealthy elites and Hollywood types, like Cardi B having a huge showing at their convention. Then you see Trump always out in a crowd of "just ordinary U.S. citizens".
I think they're hiding him because they're afraid of his gaffes. He completely blew his first two presidential runs by putting his foot in his mouth, "being Joe". The real Joe doesn't "sell well" in America once he starts talking off script. However, there is a possibility that he has co-morbid health issues that would make him more susceptible to a "bad" case of Covid (versus mild or asymptomatic) if he got infected in addition to advanced age. It does seem weird either way. There are a lot of Democrat Congressmen who are working normally at the Capitol and out on the trail campaigning to maintain their seats. Joe seems to be the only politician who is hiding from election publicity. Normally, the more air time a candidate gets, the better for them.
