I have a P85 MkII stainless with between 4k and 5k rounds through it. It still works great.

My little LCP only has about 500-600 rounds through it. It's not really a range favorite. I just shoot it to remain used to operating it.

That's why when I carry, (I have a CCP) I carry a snubnosed S&W .38. I seldom carry. I'm not allowed to at work, and many places don't allow it.

I think that we should delicately examine this assertion - point by point w/ all due respect to the conceiver of this rather unconstitutional assertion...

I can sort of see the point. Imagine for a moment that the Constitution and legal precedent had decided that concealed carry was illegal but open carry was OK.

Basically you'd be having the entire licensed carry population of the US open carrying when they decided to carry. But that same condition would also be saying to persons inclined to commit crimes 'look at me, cross the line and I'll respond'. Every licensed shooter in the US becomes an unofficial 'reserve' responder to crime.

And yes I know concealed carry does the same thing but the point is the potential criminals don't know hat they can't see. Wear the firearm openly on your hip your identifying yourself as a licensed shooter. Both Police and criminals can see whose who. Conceal it and they don't.

Good luck there, once the anti-gunners drink the Koolaid there is little anyone can do to change their minds.

Which also paints a target on the person carrying, someone planning on some form of mass shooting or other criminal activity will take out the armed people first and do their bidding with the rest as they please.

How? When is a mass shooter ever going to conveniently find all the armed citizens present at a scene standing in a nice tight group on one side of a room and all the unarmed civilians conveniently standing on the other? Might as well argue they could choose to target red heads first. Real life's not like that, armed civilians will be 'scattered in the mix' randomly along with everyone else at the scene.

Furthermore observing from a distance the presence of armed civilians in reasonable numbers at the selected crime scene in most cases can act as a deterrent. The same scenario with most people carrying concealed doesn't.

One wonders whether those regulations are even really needed. For one thing, there would be endless lawsuits.

Probably the real danger would be offsourcing production to China, but fortunately that hasn't happened yet, due to the Chinese Communist Party's extreme aversion to guns in the open economic marketplace. (And thank goodness, one of last manufactured goods still made in America)
And I doubt the Chinese would even care that much about safety, because they don't appear to when it comes to a whole host of other consumer goods they export.
So most likely these "regulations" we would be talking about would be on imports, rather than directly on production.
