    Full title:
After ‘Defunding The Police,’ NYC First Lady Pleads For Citizens To Intervene In Violent Crimes As Assaults Spike

Wow! de Blasio's wife wants citizens to put themselves in danger by doing the job of the people she defunded. Total lunacy. If you read the article, it says most of the assaults on Asians were done by blacks, so you can just imagine what would happen if a white person intervened and the black guy got harmed. There would be riots. But de Blasio's wife wants unarmed people to step in when quite often the thugs are armed. Who's going to do that?

I don't think I've ever heard anyone in politics or authority make such an idiotic statement. What she's almost asking for is vigilantism and we know how that will roll in NYC.

If you read any part of this story, then make sure it's the bolded part below.

"I'm dyin' here, fool!". The sheer idiocy of entitled Leftists is truly, TRULY is limitless....but hey, if this is the "leadership" they seem to adore, then have at it. Maybe the nation's unemployed should consider making a move to cities ran by cabals of clueless Leftists and embark on a career of street thuggery while there's a few fools still living there with a nickel in their pocket.

Defund the police has always meant to demilitarize the police and fund programs to to dispatch qualified individuals to deal with certain calls.

The goal is to not have police shooting people that need welfare checks or murdering people that have severe mental illnesses because they have not been trained to handle them.

Very few people want to get rid of police, they just want accountability and effective policing.

In addition to becoming bullet sponges, citizens should run into burning buildings and try to stomp out the flames!!!

Tis is troubling to no end.

Do Liberals even have brains? Doubtful.

And if vigilantes respond to Mrs. de Blasio's call, will she approve?

    ^Really?:roflol:

There WOULDN'T "be riots". Give me a break.:bored:

    Bottom line:

    1) She is entitled to her opinion.

    2) People are free to ignore her opinion.

    ^Problem solved.

You mean social workers, not LEO.

You're moving the goal posts here.

Nobody has ever shot somebody merely for desiring a welfare check. Actions have consequences and when people of any situation and any medical condition threat the police or others, they get a response including harm to themselves.

To some, accountability means that the police should endure severe risk of bodily harm or death to protect criminals and violent people. No thanks. As is usual, the left has their priorities all screwed up.

We should be, as a community, resoundingly supportive of the concept that police officers, who work and earn a paycheck, support their families, and pay taxes are the first ones to make it home everyday.

They could be LEO’s with an LCSW as far as I am concerned. It just doesn’t need to be someone with minimal qualifications that just happens to have a badge and a gun.

Our police are taught to shoot first and ask questions later. We have more police involved shootings per capita than any other first world nation by a significant margin.

Yeh. You are right. Police should just be able to shoot people anytime they even remotely feel threatened. Real or imagined. That makes sense

I support good cops. The rest of them not so much. The ones that stand by and do nothing fall into the second category.

And so she has, but she has influenced public official's opinion. So, who's the bigger schmuck - her, or her dork husband?

    Take your pick :buggered:

The police need to be defunded - not completely but police spending is way out of control. The reason for this is that police activities are out of control - rather than doing the main task - protecting people from violence and harm from others - they spend much of their time on chasing down Pot smokers and Prostitutes - dressing up in military gear - and having swat teams raid houses because of a tip that someone in the household was smoking a joint.

The reason the police do this .. is because of Bad Law - and certainly one that turns 100 million US citizens into criminals - for doing something that does not cause harm to others (Direct harm - and indirect doesn't count) is one example.

What do we expect when we do something so stupid.. Other nations followed suit - in large part due to US pressure - but for God sakes they didn't enforce these laws with any vigor - like we did here - having disastrous results.

While there should be some focus on the police - as they are the errand boys of the State so this is inescapable - the main problem is "BAD LAW" - and so only - or primarily focusing on the police is misplaced angst.

We hear almost nothing of the root cause issues from the pundits on either side. Until we fix that .. there is no hope of significant change.

So... more training for police. That would require a budget INCREASE not less.

Yes, police are taught to stop an imminent threat. If the expectation is the cops assume more risk in the face of violence in order to "ask questions", nope I am not on board with that. Police already assume a tremendous amount of risk in their profession.

Sigh. I am so tired of the left holding the United States up against other nations as the datum for what is right or what should be done. These other countries aren't ANYTHING like the United States. What works for them may not work for us and vice versus.

Our culture isn't anything like the countries you want to compare us to. That makes zero cents.

Show me a SINGLE body cam video where a cop that wasn't charged shot somebody that wasn't being threatened.

    Just one.

There are nearly 700,000 cops in the United States, responding to over 240 million calls. And Ill bet that you can't show me a single video that validates your claim that cops just walk up and shoot people.

THIS is the entire problem with your argument. You want to drive your opinion based on the tiny fraction of a percent of police involved shootings and which ones of those claims have been made of police homocide... i mean like... .0000000000009% yet you want to ignore the crime culture, lack of authoritarian respect, high school failure and drop out rates, rates of fatherless households, gang involvement and killings.

Right wingers with selective reading problems....
The article says that she wants people to intervene in violent hate crimes and harassments, specifically against Asian Americans .... not just ANY random violent crime.

Weird how Asian Americans are only safe in conservative neighborhoods. I wonder how that happened.

so now we will have people with no law enforcement training shooting criminals. Is that better? I mean, I don’t mind. I trust my own shooting skills over a police officer’s anyway, but is this what NYC wants? I hope they at least make it easier to carry firearms for the citizens stuck in the city. Man, I’m glad I don’t live in a city where things seem to make zero common sense.

And yet they're slashing the budgets of police departments which is resulting in higher crime rates and more suffering for those they claim to be trying to protect.

Yes. It would. I support properly funding our police departments. Did you have a point?

If they are unable to ascertain the situation without shooting people for the smallest reason they need to find a new profession.

Yes. That is what people do when comparing statistics. I love how the same people screaming we are the best nation on Earth are the same ones that also scream it is unfair for us to compare the US to other nations. I would say it’s ironic but that isn’t the appropriate word.

The word you are looking for is sense.

And I agree, we shouldn’t be comparing a nation rushing to the bottom to those first world nations that are constantly advancing their nations.

Let me know if you need another. I have dozens that I can think of just off the top of my head, many more if I research. Most of them are black or Hispanic however so they might not have the same impact

Which brings me to another point, why is America such a **** hole?

Except it is an issue. Just because you believe we should compare the US to failed nations in order to save face is irrelevant to me. After seeing your priorities in dozens of threads, your assertion that mine is “messed up” is assuring that I am on the right track.
