Ok, so if you're going to join the Space Force you're going to become the merger of mind and machine, a cyborg! (Well, not really.) What do you think about that job now? Assuming you were a young adult looking to join the Space Force for a little space adventure? Space Force scientist warns US military must use 'human augmentation' (msn.com)
Human augmentation has been going for 20 plus years now. The brand name is Viagra but commonly referred to as the little blue pill.
The most obvious human augmentation will be liquid breathing apparatus to enable human pilots to safely withstand up to 1,000 Gs or more during extreme maneuvering. It is no longer "rocket science' (no pun intended).
Hi Dayton3, Why a liquid breathing apparatus>? Are they going under the sea? I don't see anyone surviving 1,000 Gs of force regardless of how they breathe.
They would not. Liquid Breathing is largely an abandoned theory. It does work, but only at extreme depth, and has other issues. And would do nothing to help G forces. That has to do with blood circulation. That is why we use pressure suits to help deal with it.
Because liquids resist compression, using liquid breathing apparatus is the only known method of resisting extreme G forces.
liquid air I think they mean https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_breathing "Liquid breathing is a form of respiration in which a normally air-breathing organism breathes an oxygen-rich liquid (such as a perfluorocarbon), rather than breathing air."
He is well known to more than a generation, I can only assume that was before you were born. But even if so, I can guarantee if you start the next sentences, anybody my age or older will be able to finish them. And come on now, that guy from "I Dream of Jeannie"? That is Larry Hagman, much better known to a later generation as JR from Dallas.
Compression is nowhere near the same thing as G forces. Go down to 120 meters under sea level, and stay perfectly still. You will be at 0G, but still 12 atmospheres of pressure.
Colonel in the Air Force, NASA astronaut, injured in a test vehicle crash. Had an eye, arm, and both legs replaced by bionics.
Six million dollar man. The million dollar was Max (Maximilian) a German Shepherd Dog uses as a test subject for bionics.
Kind of like the real Captain Marvel, there was a huge "Bionic Family" by the time the entire series was done. Max had all 4 legs and his jaw replaced. Steve Austin, both legs, one arm, an eye. Jamie Summers, both legs, an arm, an ear. Barney Hiller, a race car driver. Both arms and both legs. Salka Pal-Mir, a fictionalization of Golda Meir. A bionic heart. Andy Sheffield, both legs and arms. Kate Mason, entire body. Alan Devlin, entire body. And finally in the movie sequels, Michael Austin. An arm, both legs, an eye, his spine and ribcage, heart, and even more replacements not discussed. And of course Bigfoot, who was given bionics by an advanced alien race. But when I read the title of this, all I could think was "Hell, this was already talked about 50 years ago".
