There are billions of people on Earth so the are even more billions of ideas and opinions that humans hold. Some are absolutely insane like the flat earth and the young earth but they exist. There are things that are more nuanced like conspiracy theories because some of them are actually true or have some small kernels of truth. Politics, science, religion and life preferences; there is an infinite spectrum. I'm sure there are some people out there that still believe in the gods of ancient Egypt. But my question is what if just ONE idea was utterly eradicated? If ZERO humans believed in the Lizard People or NOBODY likes the color purple, would that be detrimental to the well being of humanity. Would it mean we let our guard down and the aliens take over? Would it mean we lose the opportunity to find miracle cures for specific illnesses? What if just ONE thought did not exist?
Money? After all it's just a theoretical symbol that we collectively decide that we will assign value to.
I doubt if any atheist ever converted to Islam except by forced declaration. Atheists try to say that their opinion is based on science or logic. When they convert it is usually to Christian after seeing the logic and science in Christianity. Of course they are all really pantheists and maybe a few of them sometimes realize that and make that small adjustment. Since atheism can never be based on evidence the most honest transition is to agnostic. That's better because agnostics don't argue with false dogma but seek information. Agnostic should never be a permanent position though, just a transition. Yes though. I often try to persuade Christians not to try too hard to turn an atheist into a theist. Hell is full of theists.
As much as I hate mosquitos, without them bird and fish populations would be hammered big time! Which would then greatly affect other species populations after that!. Unfortunately, the little bastards are very important, lol. I do like Fatback's money idea though, lol.
That's simple then. Just get rid of babies. Children shouldn't be trusted anyway. They are plotting to replace us.
Those other insects have many other roles that would be wrecked from the massive increase in predation. There would be all kinds of secondary effects... algae blooms, massive decreases in pollinators, etc. It would snowball into quite an ecological disaster. The pests have their role to play.
I can't think of anything good that has come from the concept of 'race'. Its a totally arbitrary division of us that has absolutely no identifiable virtue or meaning outside of our own imaginations. There is no evolutionary purpose served in any of us seeing 'race' distinctions. Its a self inflicted wound on our history that just never heals.
Does the OP ask for a world in which the item never existed or becomes obsolete soon? If no one had ever become an atheist then our arguments on the subject would be to the number and properties of deities. Those now atheist would probably be deists. At least you can talk to deists without being insulted every few lines.
On the other hand, if something like atheism were to slowly evaporate over the next, say 500 years-like Greek mythology for instance-we would still have all the old books by and about atheists to play with-like those Greek mythology movies. Now suppose no one had ever believed in the Greek gods? The Greeks would be stuck worshiping Roman gods and more easily converted to Christianity because it would mean renouncing their oppressors in a peaceful way.
Meh.... No matter how outlandish, people need to believe in things. Its referred to as a defense mechanism. Many of us just cant without some kind of answer so we make one up so we can move on, even if its irrational
Mosquitos are an observable physical phenomenon. You could just deny that Malaria and Dengue fever exist and by extension mosquitoes. I probably should clarify. I don't mean the idea or concept of atheism so much as holding the conviction of it's truth. It's easy to dismiss people who say they KNOW for a FACT that God does not exist. Then lump everyone who says agnostic atheist into JUST agnostic. That won't change the fact however that although they are called agnostic, they will still live their lives assuming there is no God. What does that mean? It means they will not fall to their knees in prayer or go to any church to partake of sacramental bread.
