If you do one thing today watch this video. I beg you. A man is standing calmly talking to several officers in an open area, an officer comes up from behind him and without the man even flinching he picks him up and body slams the man's head into the tiles. The man was carried away unconscious, covered in blood and urine. ______________________________________________ It doesn't matter what this man is guilty of. That officer could have video evidence of a murder against him and this conduct would still be criminally reckless. There is no context in which this is not criminal police brutality. Police can use reasonable force to execute an arrest based on the resistance of the offender, no separate standard applies for public order offences. ________________________________________ This is deeply un-Australian. This officer needs to be charged no matter your view of the event at large, surely all Australians can unite over this, if nothing else?
That 10 second clip really does look like excessive use of force. I have no idea what made the person film it? What actually happened before with the guy that was slammed?
This isn't an isolated incident. Australia's government is going insane. I don't know why people are arguing to give up their rights to live under authoritarianism. I've read about these things in history and was perplexed as to what made people accept this and now that I'm seeing it first hand I understand.
It is an isolated incident actually….hence the officer being suspended. We have the occasional crook cop, just as in most countries. They aren’t representative of the bulk of them. Just as some of the morons they deal with aren’t representative of the bulk of our people….
Ummm...those actions by police are STATE govt responsibilities... And, to repeat, it is very much an isolated incident. This is why the cop was suspended. And the clowns who had physical force used on them had resisted lawful orders. Try doing that with ANY police force in the world...
No it isn't. The government of Australia has imprisoned it's population and it's trying to enforce that imprisonment. This isn't officers going rogue it's them following orders When the law violates rights it is your civic duty to resist them.
