Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., told a Texas crowd Saturday that it is inevitable that Texas will turn blue as she endorsed two candidates for Congress prior to the primary next month.

    [...]

The New York representative is not the first politician to imagine a world where the Republican Party loses Texas’ crucial 38 electoral college votes, which is a nightmare for the party. In September 2019, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, said the state would be close in the 2020 presidential election. (Former President Trump carried the state, winning 52.1% to President Biden’s 46.5%)

    ________________________________

All demographics indicate a slow but steady erosion of the Republican vote in Texas.

The state will follow the same path as Georgia.

So it is reasonable to believe that Texas will be purple in 2028 and pale blue in 2032.

And you know what that means for the GOP?

It's just a matter of time, it might be as early as 2024, for the Pres election.

I am not sure I can disagree with her statement unless theft swings to her version of liberalism which is closer to Marxism. If they swing that far left Texas will never become blue.

No worries for the GOP, they will just gerrymander to keep the majority of Texas congressional seats, even though being in the minority.

Probably not then, unless the GOP runs the defeated former POTUS again.... then it might be a horse race....

But I'd certainly think 2028 will be the time...

its funny how you attribute gerrymandering to republicans when both sides quite literally do it . It’s not any kind of secret that both sides want districting to work in their favor lol .

Really is a dumb statement to say only one does it .

No American elected official is a Marxist.

You are using a word you don't know the definition of.

But you can continue to use it as you wish, it will only show how out of touch the right is in this country.

It seems "inevitable", but it may not happen on AOC's Timetable.

Also, the artiicle is shoddily written, by whomever authored that piece.

Texas’ crucial 38 electoral college votes

As of 2022, Texas has 40 EV (not 38.).

Maybe you can quote Karl Marx in his opinion that leaders should not be elected.

to the contrary He thought the possibility of peaceful transition to Marxism in some countries with strong democratic institutional structures like the US was very possible.

I’ll play , she hates capitalism for one . Second she believes us peasants should have equal distribution of goods and pretty much no more than the next person .

But again really she is just an idiot socialist who only wants socialism to apply to us while she stays receiving a big check and the best perks our money gets her .

Marxism is an economic theory that wants to abolish social classes.

Never has AOC - or any elected Democrat for that matter - made an apology for that.

Liberals, on the other hand, want to establish economic measures that reduce social inequality.

Proposed models such as universal health care or a better social safety net for the poorest have been implemented for 75 years in countries such as Canada, UK, Germany, Norway, France etc...

For the most ignorant Republicans, these nations are Marxist.

But you aren't ignorant, are you?

    Well AOC isn’t a liberal , she’s a extremist progressive blowhard …… there is a difference .

As far as having universal healthcare and more help for those at the bottom we could have that too right now actually, and some of the reasons we don’t and they do have to do with our tax payers funding NATO , along with a crap ton of wasted spending on thing like illegal immigrants , foreign aid for countries that will never do us any good or good for themselves , and just plain other mismanagement.

But no , instead of fixing our governments constant waste of tax dollars you have idiots like AOC who want to raise taxes so they can keep up with the wasteful spending and just really get more money to waste .

Haven’t you noticed , when it comes to these things that especially from democrats who claim they want to do all this wonderful stuff…… they do the opposite and then ask for more money ?

Progressives are nothing but extremists lefties who want to apply different parts of Marxism and communism to the peoples lives in an attempt at more power and a monopoly of the White House .

Did you respond to the correct post? I didn't mention gerrymandering at all. Of course GM is done by both sides, but in context of THIS thread, Texas is as bad as anybody.

I thought the basic theory was about the 38 electoral votes, which has zippy to do with GM....

Texas’ internal politics seem to be solid conservative. I wouldn’t count the 2020 election because Trump was demonized a lot and there was a lot of disinformation about him.
I think, if a D captures the governor seat, or if they gain a majority in their legislature then there will be the basis for worrying. Texas receives a lot of conservative migrants from other states, so it might actually shift further right.

    BS

Trump has promised to repeal Obamacare against the wishes of 60% of Americans.

He never proposed any alternative while he would deprive more than 15 million Americans of affordable health insurance.

For 75 years, Republicans have never proposed a single social measure that served the interests of Americans.

On these issues, the country is 50 years behind all other G20 countries.

    Please don't change.

    Keep calling the Dems Marxists.

But don't complain that for the past 14 years, the majority of voters have voted for a Democrat in the Presidential election.
