The second amendment whats it mean to you

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
As we were not there to ask our founding fathers the exact intent we must interpret it for our self's. Clearly your political and private assumptions will affect that .. But let us break it down, now they do talk about a militia

Basically I feel the intent of that was to make sure that militias are able to form and exist as the militias played a large part in the war and the defeat of the British .Next the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.They are not implying only a militia can have guns but the people can also and that we can carry them . Thats how I see it

 

The Supreme Court agrees with you. "Militia" basically refers to all able-bodied people in the country. The whole point of a militia is that it ONLY becomes regulated by the government when they are called to service. Basically, they wanted a populace who knew how to use guns in case they needed to call upon that populace.

 

Option 6, Americans are obsessed with their constitution and specifically the 2nd Amendment.

 

On one hand, guns are part of the second amendment. On the other hand terrorists have a right to keep and bear arms. And if they have one they will hold people in fear. That’s why gum ownership is tied to domestic violence. We need to be careful going ahead on what it means exactly.

 

I do not own a gun. It is nice to know that those that might break into my home and torture murder me and my family have no assurance of that.

 

That seems really dangerous and loose. For example an ex felon who used guns in the past but has paid for their crimes in jail is now free. Is that person allowed to have a gun?

Obsessed with their constitution! People’s from all over the world are willing to risk life and limb to come to this country so they to can have the constitution of the USA and all its beautiful freedoms. Yea, I’m kinda obsessed with that old piece of paper.

I have 15 firearms now. At one time I had more. I have 2 friends that each have 50 guns.
My 15 guns cover various disciplines.
Personal protection away from home .target shooting . cowboy action shooting personal protection home and big game and small game hunting and water bird and terrestrial bird hunting.

 

Owning a gun isn't freedom. It's still illegal to shoot people you don't like.

Yes sir. I’ve heard from far to many socialists, progressives, leftists who would love nothing better then to rip the freedoms out of that wonderful document and turn over the control of our daily lives to govco. Funny, the old communist Soviet Union put up a wall, the Iron Curtain not to keep foreigners out but to keep their people from fleeing as no one wanted to live with communism. China to this day will throw you in prison if you say the wrong things or speak of political freedom. North Korea will just kill you and your extended family members.

 

It’s like saying a car makes you free but you can’t drive over the speed limit. They’re status symbols, not “freedom symbols”.

 

I to had over 15 guns at one time, mostly assorted caliber handguns. But a few years ago decided to consolidate in order to cut down on ammo calibers. So now it’s heavy 9mm for the semis and 357 mag for revolvers. Tho I do carry a Ruger LCP and that uses .380.

 

But firearms ensure an equal balance of power if both opponents have one. Any weak coward can pull a trigger and hasn't to run away from a big strong attacker.

 

You mean the $500 gun that the abusive partner who also controls money would own? Or make sure only they have the lock and key to? Or access to getting a gun? So sure your point is right if both have it might level the playing field. But more likely the abusive partner will be the one to have access to the firearm. They’re the ones already in a position of power.

 

I heard that guns are pretty cheap on the black market. Especially those that have already been used in a crime.

 

Which an abusee would need to access from a person who might also be controlling their movement and social life.
