All that means is you don't agree with the exact wording of 2A and infringements are ok.

So you would have a problem with me wanting to own Claymores under the Second Amendment?

Yes I do. A fire arm can be controlled by a human and a human has discretion. A mine can be tripped by anyone a child a animal etc . no one has legitimate use for one

The forgotten part of that intent was the fear and avoidance of a standing army.

As long as it never left your property? No.

I consider defense of your home sacrosanct. One centimeter outside your property line? Others' right to personal safety meet or exceed your right to carry weapons.

So you don't fully agree with the Second Amendment?
BTW, Claymores, while they can be set with trip wires, were designed to be command-detonated with a remote-control and were often used this way.

I'd only carry one or two with me at a time. You know, whatever the situation called for.

Outside of your property line is subject to regulation. Even the Founding Fathers embraced that.

    Bill of Rights - December 15, 1791
First gun control law - 1813, Kentucky (concealed carry ban)

Because if you seriously think someone is going to take your freedoms away, you will need them. Lots of them.
You don't really think a single bloke with a handgun is going to take your freedoms away, you really need to give your head a shake.
If you seriously think that if a small troop of "them" want your property, that a gun will stop them, you are still playing imaginary games before your mother calls you in for dinner.

I said you are behaving like John Wayne.
If your security forces aren't good enough, make them better.
Do you ever wonder why most of the ROW don't worry about protecting their freedoms with handguns?
Those who live where it MAY happen know that if a group of people who may be strong enough to do so, won't do so by using hand guns.
They will have weaponry that makes a mockery of your attempts.
And if your police force cant do its job, reform it.
How do you think the ROW manages to prevent crime and maintain their freedoms?

And yet some guy in Buffalo horns carrying a flagpole and a few of his buddies with other flagpoles almost "over threw democracy"....

Let's take it to realistic levels.
Some imaginary bunch of people armed with tanks, heavy arms and an air force, decides to take your town.
Do you seriously think you threatening them with a handgun in each hand is going to make an iota of difference?
BTW who is this invasion threatening you? It is more likely to be some rogue part of your own military...an internal coup, than any international invasion. And the threat of an internal coup was what your founding fathers feared.
Sit down, look at reality and them work out who is making you so scared.

And what if our security forces become too good and start telling the people what to do instead of the people telling the security forces what to do?

Interesting, you suggest our hand guns won't be enough to stop weaponry that would make a mockery of them. Seems to me a small group of dudes on this continent once stood up to one of the most powerful countries in the world. When was that... let me see.. Oh, yeah 1776!

Personally, I don't really how the rest of the world prevents crime and maintains freedoms.

You do realise that arms design has moved on in the last 250 years, don't you?
ISTM that your faith in democracy is painfully thin if you can't rely on it to keep yourself safe.ill tell you how they fend off the menace.
They understand that any attacj on one by another means a serious devastating war. It is called NATO.
They respect other national borders as described in constitutions, the WTO and the United nations.
They talk and negotiate with each other.
They have intelligence agencies, embassies, and summit meetings.
    You too have all this.
Why you are so paranoid as to think you are going to be invaded without your government knowing well ahead of time is IMO a serious mistrust of your democratic systems and international alliances.
This whole justification is IMO a lie perpetrated by those who live in an eternal war games mode, and supported by those who make a fortune arming the nation against a myth looking for an excuse.
You haven't told me yet who is coming to take your freedoms away. So far "they" are an imaginary bunch of people equally armed and replaying 1776.

People like you are who is making me so scared. As you say, the founding fathers feared a coup. That's why they wanted us to all have guns. A hand gun may not make an iota of difference but I'd much rather be facing a threat with a handgun than facing a threat with no gun at all.

People like this are my heroes. man vs tank.jpg

    There is the paranoia.
NO ONE is coming to get you and anyone who has any possibility of "taking your freedoms" wouldn't worry about a few handguns.
Unfortunately while you are waiting for the great invasion, innocent people are being killed.

You should go and shoot a gun sometimes to get over your paranoia and fear of them. You might even find it exciting.

You mean, like me personally, will need tanks and jets? Cuz that would be like saying I can't drive without my own road...

Not without risking losing his own, he won't.

I'm hoping my armed neighbors (and their armed neighbors) will be as willing to assist me as I am them.

You seem angry... Did you think I was trying to force you to get a gun or something?

    Sweet.
Except no one is threatening your democracy.
I find is amazing that the most heavily armed, technically advanced country on earth, which regularly sends tens of thousands of troops, billions of dollars worth of equipment half way around the world to safeguard other peopkes democracy, won't be able to protect your own?
And thinks it needs handguns to keep it safe!
Now I ask again...who are you arming yourselves against?

I am not in the least angry.
I am disappointed that there are so many who can't see reality beyond the end of their own road.
Your security doesn't rest on the gun in your closet.
It rests on a well organised international set of agreements, laws, alliances and long term understandings.
Now just who are you scared of?
