If a federal gun prohibition were enacted in The Constitution, that would go contrary to almost all state constitutions which mandate universal gun rights to citizens.

Now that would truly be a great day.
However since the federal law would have to be approved by state legislators, I don't se the problem.

You keep ignoring that France has a substantial illegal gun problem.

You should probably study the history of guerrilla warfare.

What is it they call Afghanistan? The graveyard of empires. Also it looks like small arms worked out pretty well for the Viet Cong.

I'm afraid that I don't see Americans caring enough about the Constitution and the Rights it guarantees.

For example, I see too many people willing to eviscerate the First Amendment for the sake of "hate speech".

The same is true with "No-Knock warrants" and "Sobriety Checkpoints" which clearly violate the 4th Amendment.

It is at least my opinion that Americans don't care enough about their Rights as guaranteed by our Constitution.

depends on what country you live in.
I was speaking of the lethal effectiveness of the firearm. Pointing out military's use of it to show that it is when you were trying to argue that it wasn't.
So you should live in a police state? No thanks.

And why does knowing about history mean that you're playing it over and over in your head that doesn't make any sense.

if it is your contention that there can never be any possible threat then you believe you live in a perfect world.

    unless you carry concealed.
No I actually answered your question directly. Your belief that there can never be any possible threat to anybody is stupid and wrong.

It's not my fault you don't understand reality.

Well it's not racism to point out a fact. For you to excuse that fact by saying black people are just poor that's racist.

No black people aren't poor there are some black people that are they're quite a few that are middle class and even some that are wealthy.

And no poverty doesn't cause crime. In fact people who face poverty actually face a higher likelihood of being victims of crime. That isn't caused by their poverty. That's caused by the criminal element within.

To think that if poverty was somehow remedied we'd all manage to form Utopia is insane.

You said 'guns cause crime.' Which crimes, if not murder, did you mean when you said that? If you can try to be more precise in what your position is, I will try to match your precision.

I will try to stop having to make assumptions about what you said if you try to be more precise in what you are saying. Deal?

What do you believe I'm not doing that I should be doing about crime?

    quote please

Are you suggesting population density contributes to increased crime? If so, would you support restricting by law too many people living in too small of an area in the interest of preventing crime?

Then what do you mean when you say: "Of course rural areas have less crime anyway. There are fewer people." What point are you trying to make with that statement, if not to suggest that rural areas have less crime because they have lower population density?

    I am done here.
The thread has shattered into various desperate attempts to say something or other.
Since I have not received any justifications for having gun (s) at home, other than a fashion statement, I will get back to you when you find one.

Me: "Are you suggesting population density contributes to increased crime?"
    You: "No."
Me: "[are you trying to make the point] that rural areas have less crime because they have lower population density?"
    You: Of course.

How is this not you contradicting yourself? lower pop. dens. = less crime but higher pop. dens. =/= more crime? We're not using common core, are we?

But does reducing guns diminish the risk?

Or do rural areas have less crime because there are more firearms in rural areas?
Not only is crime generally less in rural areas, the crime rate is also lower per capita in those rural areas.
But if more guns equals more crime, why is there not more crime in these rural areas with more guns per capita?
    How do you explain that?

So I have a firearm that I may assist my nation should an army from another nation try to invade.

As for nations not having standing armies against their own people; you may be correct in stating "most" don't. But, there are enough nations who use their armies against their own people that I want to be cautious.

I just love the idea of you standing outside your house armed with your little gun, taking aim at a couple of tanks coming down the road.
It is like something out of Monty Python.
