If a rural community of ten people all have guns, and no criminal can be bothered to travel miles to rob a house because there are houses closer, then there will be less crime.
You need a criminal to have a crime.

 

Do you have a problem with people having the ability to defend themselves?

 

Oh so states don't send representatives and senators to Congress where they vote on federal bills.

That is the whole point.
They don't.
The idea that they have any capacity to defend themselves against a serious enemy is the stuff of comic books.

This is following a remark that federal government overrides state legislation.
It can only do that if states allow it in Congress.

Our country was founded upon the idea of federalism. I’ll bet you don’t know what federalism is. I’ll bet you’d get backwards.

That is just one scenario and it is of your choosing.
How about in stead of your take on things I do something like this? I take two AR's, a 12 gauge shotgun and a couple of 9mm pistols along with a few thousand rounds of ammo and climb on my 4-wheeler. I then ride a trail through the woods to my neighbor's home where he is sitting on his 4-wheeler with his firearms. From there we ride to our local National Guard Armory and join with others who will be fighting to repel the invading army.
Is either your scenario or mine likely to happen in the US? No..... because my neighbors and I have firearms! But keep in mind there are many different scenarios.

You must remember the story of us hicks across the pond repelling the Red Coats of one of the world super powers of the day.

Although......, I do enjoy a good Monty Python episode once in a while!

Often times you only need motive and opportunity to have crime. Criminals are not born, they become criminals. It's a decision making process.

As I explained, crime is not just lower in rural areas, as in a small number, but also lower per capita.

We have criminals in rural areas too, just not as many per capita. An odd suggestion that "no criminal can be bothered to travel miles to rob a house". When crimes do happen in rural areas the criminals are from the rural area. Most criminals don't commute very far.

 

Yes states send Senators and Representatives to Congress. They are in the United States Congress. State legislators are members of state's Congress. Federal legislators in the US Congress vote on federal legislation, State Congressional members vote on state level legislation.

 

What do you consider "a serious enemy"?

 

You keep suggesting scenarios in which tanks are involved. Do you not realize there are many different types of military equipment, many different types of weapons, many different types of personnel with different jobs. If I decide to go up against an enemy, foreign or domestic, I intend to pick targets that are not tanks.

Actually I can use more than one gun at a time but of course would not recommend it in a combat type event.

I was being facetious. I know what a 4x4 is and have ridden on one often.
I mentioned home and family.
and the rest of the homes and families in your area.
You mentioned the Red Coats.
British soldiers of today don't wear red coats other than in battle enactments.

Let me be clear. There are some in the USA who have never experienced bombing, tanks, missiles, and air power.
You have never had a modern war on your soil.
Your only exposure to war is in movies, TV and books.
Frankly you don't have much of an idea what real war is like unless you have experienced it on someone else's soil. And that is not YOU experiencing it.
The idea that you can protect yourselves from a serious attack with your store bought guns is not feasible. You may have been told you can defend yourself but someone forgot to tell you that he was only talking about burglars and the dog next door.
