Why destroy infrastructure when you have Javelins?

Overwhelming wave of Russian troops expected in Ukraine, US officials warn
From CNN's Jeremy Herb and Lauren Fox

US administration officials warned lawmakers in classified briefings Monday that a second wave of Russian troops will likely consolidate the country's positions within Ukraine and by sheer numbers be able to overcome the Ukrainian resistance, according to two people familiar with the briefings.

“That part was disheartening,” one lawmaker told CNN.
The officials also said Russia was likely to lay siege to Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and predicted ugly scenes of urban warfare, one of the people familiar with the matter said.

Putin's mental state: Questions about Russian President Vladimir Putin's mental state arose during the briefings, but were not clearly answered by the administration officials, the sources said.

GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley, who attended the Senate briefing, confirmed Putin's mental state came up, but he declined to elaborate on what was shared.

He did say, however, that regardless of the briefing, he personally is worried about Putin’s mental state.

The Biden administration officials were more upbeat about the unity emerging from Western countries, both in terms of sanctions as well as weapons coming from nations like Germany that were opposed to such a move just a few days ago, the sources said.

Ukraine and Russia are still fighting for control of the skies 5 days into the war, US defense official says

    • A senior US official said Ukraine's airspace remains contested, contradicting Moscow's claims.

    • Russia was expected to swiftly knock out Ukraine's air defense capabilities, but that has not happened.

    • Ukraine has claimed to have shot down Russian fighter jets, helicopters, and even troop transport planes.
Despite Russian claims to the contrary, Ukraine's airspace remains contested as the country's forces fight to repel Russian aggression, a senior US defense official said on Monday during an off-camera press briefing.

"The Russians have not achieved air superiority over the whole country," the official told reporters. "Ukrainian air defenses remain intact and viable in terms of aircraft and missile defense systems, and they're engaged."

"It's a contested airspace, and it's a very dynamic airspace," the official continued, contradicting Moscow's claims this morning that Russia has "total air superiority" over Ukraine.

Yahoo is not reliable, it mimics the government/corporate line. I prefer independent sites that will give an alternative viewpoint.

What does that have to do with simply providing a damned link to your alleged source?

Oh I forgot, the Ukrainian planes were all destroyed while still on the ground. Russia bombed over 900 military installations during the first two days.

Why? So you can start attacking the site the way others have been attacked? What difference would it make anyway, you can't fight Russian guns with lies and propaganda.

The Ukrainians are fighting Russian guns with truth, patriotism and bravery. What are you doing, other than spreading Kremlin lies and propaganda?

How about fighting Russian lies and propaganda?? Seems that the Russian troops are startled at being resisted. They have been told they would be met with" the proverbial hears and flowers". Not the case......Ukraine has the support of most of the planet......... and even China is stepping back and considering what side of history it wants to be on.
Putin might be frustrated now........and may resort to even uglier tactics. This whole invasion is a war crime. and getting worse. In some ways he followed the playbook of Bush jr.. (think Iraq)....... and created a rationale for an elective offensives action. Both men had a festering rage for their "targets"
Putin is making himself into a world pariah. His mental health should be questioned...not just his flagrant paranoia.

If NATO placed troops in Ukraine for what would happen later NATO would have been responsible, not Russia. Now it is responsibility of Russia.

Maybe according to RT and the like, but Russia attacking Ukraine is Putin's fault either way.
