More than 100 students at Yale Law School attempted to shout down a bipartisan panel on civil liberties, intimidating attendees and causing so much chaos that police were eventually called to escort panelists out of the building.

The March 10 panel, which was hosted by the Yale Federalist Society, featured Monica Miller of the progressive American Humanist Association and Kristen Waggoner of the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a conservative nonprofit that promotes religious liberty. Both groups had taken the same side in a 2021 Supreme Court case involving legal remedies for First Amendment violations. The purpose of the panel, a member of the Federalist Society said, was to illustrate that a liberal atheist and a conservative Christian could find common ground on free speech issues.

We have a complete generation of brainwashed college students that do not tolerate any views that oppose their own. It has become the norm, not the exception by these Ivy League scumbags that either never learned what it means to be an American or reject it and want Authoritarian control.

correct, so that means the Democrat teachers in high school and Democrat professors are doing their job as loyal Democrat voters.

So, 400+ Yale Law students exercised their right to Free Speech and you have a problem with that??

But you immediately lost your case with the phrase "Yale Federalist Society"... They should hold their hate group events at a more appropriate venue in the future... May I suggest a Monster Truck Rally in Ocala?

Why don't we let the Yale School newspaper tell us the real story?

    https://yaledailynews.com/blog/2022...aker-armed-police-presence-triggers-backlash/

Now I'm rooting for Yale to beat Purdue in my bracket (highly unlikely)

Couldn't make it past paragraph 5. I guess Yale's 'journalism' courses are as bad as, well, everything else they teach program. Leftists can slap their little code phrases on anyone and anything that doesn't give in to their every want and desire but that doesn't mean the words are justified. An "anti-LGBT speaker" can literally be anyone if the left so claims. These phrases, racist, sexist, -aphobic, etc, the only thing they really mean these days 99.9999% of the time is that the person they're applied to simply disagreed with leftist totalitarians.

Then you'll probably object to the phrase "hate group" as well... which doesn't change that designation one iota...

Hate is hate... and nobody hates people like conservatives...

Ah yes the irony. How dare the federalist panel be so unwilling to be interrupted. Explain to me again why the audience should remain quiet when to do so would be silencing them and taking away their free speech?

Shouting down (or otherwise 'deplatforming') speakers one disagrees with is a perversion of our cherished right to free speech. I'm not even mildly surprised you don't understand this.

They seem to think "Free Speech" means everybody else has to shut up while you perform your hate group functionality....

As the Federalist Society gets much of what they want, the people that want democracy see the threat to their rights and freedoms.

We've been down this road before, and it was seven kinds of ugly.

The 2/3 of the student body signing the letter are devaluing their own future Yale degree.

Really? it takes a lot of hate to riot, loot and burn buildings. it takes a lot of hate to cancel everything you disagree with. it takes a lot of hate to shut down pizza joints and yogurt shops because they're doing things you don't like. it takes a lot of hate to build and fly a huge balloon of a president you don't like. It takes a lot of hate to stage a play in Central Park where a character who looks like a former president is assassinated. it takes a lot of hate to piss off millions of football fans by kneeling for the anthem.

Their signatures attest to the fact they are unfit for judgeships and clerkships in our Liberal Constitutional Democracy.

It takes more hate to hate people in general, not "things you don't like"

It took almost nothing to build a completely appropriate giant T**** Baby Balloon... and don't blame me for being the one for bringing that bag of hot air into this thread...

Larry is certainly welcome to his opinion, being as he was born before the Berlin Olympics...

I tend to think most judges won't fall for the ridiculous spin on that event that he bought, but you never know.

Yea, again, with any phrase you care to use, 99.9999% of the time is that the person they're applied to simply disagreed with leftist totalitarians.

And you could drown in leftist hate overflowing on any of the so called 'hate free' tech platforms so don't try to make it exclusive.

And another thing, one of the biggest reasons the left says Brandon got elected was hatred for the other guy. Do you recall how conservative voters were assaulted in 2016? I do.

Shouting in a theater is free speech but that doesn't mean it won't get you removed.

It's interesting to note too that what they were protesting was unity and respect. The panel was about people with differences still coming together. That's what they opposed so much that the police were required to come in. You can defend that and make excuses if you want, I would rather learn to live and work with others who have their own opinions that differ from mine. I would rather stand for unity.

They really do. I don’t understand their opposition to this. Why should others be so nice and respectful of others when the fact they have a microphone?

    Sure. Why not?

Until of course you end up accidentally silencing others.

    Absolutley true.

They've implemented the block button in the real world against any opposing views.

    It's sad.
