What if I tell you that my good friend's wife works in a hospital right next to the contact line? Objectively, we have information right from the spot, and not sitting in the USA. I agree that Russia is suffering heavy losses compared to the campaigns in Chechnya and Afghanistan. But the nature of the war is different. Moreover, I will tell you that bullet wounds and the death of soldiers due to bullet wounds are 2% of the total losses. The main losses are fragmented or torn. This war is bomb-throwing, and bombs are indiscriminate

And I will ask you one last question - what losses does Ukraine have?

I don't disagree with you mate - the US has managed to mangle any form of coherent foreign policy into a miasma of utterings designed to convince other nations that "democracy" is the only truth and that US hegemony is based on some un-fathomable belief whispered to them by lobbyists and special interest groups....there is a massive disconnect between US leadership and a (seemingly) pragmatic diplomatic corps

You only see those who made it to a Russian hospital. How about those that are fertilizing Ukrainian fields? Pootins maniacal obsession with Ukraine will lead to Russia having virtually no military left to defend itself. How are you thinking of replacing all those fighter jets and helicopters when foreign parts and semiconductors (processors) are impossible to buy abroad and there is no infrastructure in place to develop your own? Even Russian domestic car manufacturers are shutting down plants because they can’t get the parts to build Russian cars.

I’ve seen estimates of about 3,000 military personnel.
Their hardware losses cannot be significant because they rely mostly on weaponry that infantry can physically carry on their own. Bayraktars are relatively small and can be launched from any road or a long drive way.

Heh. NATO has been parked on Russia's border for almost 20 years. How many times has NATO invaded Russia?

    ZERO

The Russians, on the other hand, have invaded Georgia once and Ukraine twice in the past 14 years.

Clearly, the only countries that need to defend themselves against aggression are Russia's neighbors, and Vlad the Invader doesn't like that.

Which begs the question of what is your limit of sacrifice for a war nobody wants that has no real objective other than ego? How much Russian blood does it take to make Putin feel important?

Exactly. The only "threat" NATO poses to Russia is that it could defend countries against Russia initiating even more hostile imperialist takeovers.

I’m seeing news that Poland is planning to double the size of its armed forces.
Macron was saying that French people should start preparing for a big, high-intensity war in Europe.

Thanks for posting this, Jack. These girls would make my wife proud (she was serving over in West Germany when the Berlin Wall fell) - I'm going to share it with her when I get home.

I'll say this and it comes from experience - never underestimate the women. They might not be as big and strong as we are but they can be every bit as fierce, tenacious and deadly with a gun.

“I realize that I’m ready to tear the enemies’ throats with my teeth,” she said. “Each and every one of us will do that to them. And the land will burn under their feet.”

    I don't doubt that for a moment...

The Scotsman posted part of this earlier but I just ran across the full video report at the Beeb here:

and what kind of threat and to whom did Russia pose in 1997, when NATO began to advance its borders?

You don't seem to understand. NATO is a defensive military alliance, and no one needs to fear Russia in order to join it. You might have noticed that the vast majority of the nations who have joined it don't even border Russia and that their decision had nothing to do with Russia. NATO has no borders. NATO isn't a country. The only way Ukraine would join NATO is by a mutual agreement between Ukraine and NATO. The only way Ukraine will join Russia is through military takeover. Think. Turn off RT for a couple of minutes and just, genuinely, think.

But back to the post you quoted but were incapable of addressing and will still be incapable of addressing: NATO poses no threat to Russia, except that it could defend countries against their military takeovers. Will you one day be able to address that fact? I guess not.

So, is Ukraine winning this war or losing it? I turn on TV and hear that Ukraine is winning! They've killed hundreds of Russians, destroyed Russian tanks, and Russian soldiers are on the run. So my instinct is to say "good, very good, then they don't need anymore of our money." Then on a dime the journalist pivots to how bad the Ukrainians are doing and if they don't get more help, they will for sure lose. So which is it? I just want the truth. They can't have it both ways.
